I have shoulder-blade length hair. My problem is that when I wake up in the morning my hair is a real mess, and it takes ages to get the tangles out. Any way to prevent it getting tangled in the night?
Put it in a loose braid before you go to bed. I sleep with my hair over my pillow and off the end of my bed, but that may not work with your length.
The best way that I've found is to part your hair down the middle and gather each side into a pony tail just behind your ear lobe. Then braid each pony tail.( Not a real tight braid). This is reasonably confortable to sleep in, and you get almost zero tangles.

Thanks a lot, man, it really worked. As you said, almost zero tangles, and much less breakages.
My wife turned me onto satin pillow cases -- really helps.
