Picture Purged
Ok, just a caveat that this pic was taken first thing in the morning! I'll try to remember to take another on a "good hair day". :) BTW, is there a way to upload more than 1 pic in a single post?
... that you were that far along in growth, dude! Awesome! Seems you have caught up with me. Our hair is almost identical all the way around except for the length in the back. Did you have the back cut to even up with the front?
Anyway, about posting two pics at a time. I believe you should still be able to put in two html < img src > tags to post two pictures providing you have them on a server instead of just uploading them to the image hold here. Otherwise, just make two consecutive (PIC) postings like I have seen a few guys do already. Peace!
Hello my friend,
You've come a long way too! I noticed your back, and it definitely is MUCH longer than mine! When I was first growing mine out, I kept cutting the back to even it up. Right now I think my back is about one inch longer than the rest. It was nice to hear that I've made some progress since it's hard to tell on oneself.
Thanks for the info about uploading and posting multiple pics. I wonder if Victor can make it so you can upload 2 or 3 pics at a time, kind of like Yahoo?
It's straightforeward to do, of course, but I'd rather not at this time. If multiple pictures are needed in a post, I encourage the use of the pbase site. So far I haven't published the userid and password, but photos mailed to pix@the-light.com will be loaded there and instructions returned to the sender.
Regular users of pbase may be given userid/password information.
There's another thing to consider, too. The pbase site should be quite a bit more permanent than loading pictures using the posting form. As posts are removed, their associated pictures are also removed. This is not the case with pictures loaded to pbase, so if you want the pictures to show in the archives, you should use pbase or your own site rather than attach a picture to a post.
Nope. We could make that happen, but then there would be multiple blanks at the bottom, and the form is getting long enough as it is. Most people who show a photo just have one to show, so having one per message makes the most sense. Folks wanting to show more can just post multiple messages, or link the photos as Treyn suggests.
What works best if you really want to have a few photos of yourself to show is to get a web page for yourself. Then apply to join the directory of users. Once you apply for that, a small photo of you will appear in the upper left like you see of me, above. This will appear every time you post. Then if anyone clicks on your small photo, they will be taken to your web page, where you can alter what they see over time, as your hair grows or whatever, at your leisure. Click on my photo above to see what I mean.
We already have over 50 users in that directory, and you can always "see more" if you notice one of those photos and the longhair in question piques your interest! That is what the small photos are for.

Thanks for the info, Bill. I don't want to obtain my own page right now. That's ok, though. I'm appreciative that we can even upload A picture now.
We can also do a collage for you (in effect giving you a "web page" that is one jpg image - of several photos kludged together). We'll put it on Victor's site and it will show up if people click your small photo. The collages we've been doing are similar to the ones that Sherri did on her pages.
We actually converted all those over to the users directory except for those which we had no e-mail addresses for. Although it can be suppressed, the e-mail address is what triggers the users directory, and we could not convert the photos on Sherri's pages without it.
Sherri will likely quit maintaining those pages and instead will help maintain the users directory here. I've been maintaining them at the outset because as the software writer, I wanted to be there in case there are any bugs. (So far, there ain't none!) In time, Sherri may take on a greater, if not the entire, role. Actually, we're all pretty laid back about the whole project. Hey, we're longhairs!
Bill
...good to know. I'll see about maybe sending some pictures in then...
...are you sure you are FITMUS?! Grear progress!
You do not look at all like the same guy! Amazing.
What is your goal?
...LK! My goal is probably around mid-back, maybe a little higher (b/w shoulder blades & mid-back). You know, I've got to tell you that I took the picture that way because I liked the way yours looked when you posted a while back. So, that pic was inspired by you! Haha!
You can email them to pix@the-light.com and they will be uploaded to the pbase site. Then you can reference them directly as suggested elsewhere in this thread.
Hi Victor,
Thanks for the info. I think I'll just work with the uploading feature, at least for now. BTW, did you decide to cut (or should I say "trim") your beard?
I'm still undecided. I still have some of the same pressures on both sides of the issue (most of which have not been stated here), but a couple of them have shifted. For example, when I started the poll, both here and in person, the results were decidedly in favor of trimming. The longer I run the poll, though, the more it favors keeping it long. In fact, I got a phone call the other day from a friend wishing to change her vote from trim to keep it long. The girl issue is a non-issue now, since Mona has told me directly not to trim. My brother's logo suggestion is a reason not to trim as well. That logo would be useless if I trimmed. But maybe that's a reason to not use that logo....
I can always tie up my beard like Pete suggests, but some of my issues are not impacted by that. In any case, I'm not making a hasty decision.
Don't blame you for not making a hasty decision. It's a very personal decision, too. How long have you had it, and how long does it take to grow it (is it the same 1/2 inch/month average as hair?)?
I ask because if beards grow fairly fast, and you've had the beard for a while, maybe you could try shaving the whole thing off ("yikes" you say!), or give it a trim, and then see how you feel. Obviously, you'll have to post a pic if you do either of those! :)
I think the last time I shaved it off completely was in 1994. The last trim I had was before 1996, but I don't recall how long before.
The last time I shaved I realized how the quality of the skin changes when it's protected by hair. The slightest breeze felt like ice. My skin was thinner. You could tell by looking closely at it. After a couple of days, though, it was back to normal for a shaved person.
As to growth rate, it's about the same as my head hair, which is 1/2 inch per month, so it would take at least 4 years to recover from a shave.
But there's no awkward stage for beards, only a scruffy stage.
Well, on the one hand, you've had a beard for 10 years, which is a significant amount of time to cut the beard off (or trim). But, on the other hand, sometimes it's nice for change.
Four years is quite some time to recover from a shave, but you did mention no awkward stage, which is a plus.
Well, I know it's a pretty personal decision, but, if I may, I say you've had the beard for a long time, you won't have to worry about the ability to grow facial hair (like the constant fear we, as men, have of head-hair) and there's no AS in growing a beard out--I say go for the complete shave! Check it out and see how you feel. After 10 years, you may find that you kind of like having no beard, at least for a little while. Of course, you could feel the other way, too. But you'll be able to grow it out again awkward-free. Plus, you'll immediately have a beard, albeit a small one, after only a couple of weeks of not shaving.
Good luck in whatever you decide. But you'll have to post a pic if you do trim or shave!
Your hair looks great, much better than in the wet pictures that I've seen. I like the waves - enjoy them.
Thank you. I wasn't too sure if I wanted to post the dry pic. Thanks for the encouragement! :)
That is one awesome looking mane:d
You look completely different to the last picture i've seen of you.
Healthy looking too!
Thank you. Can't wait till it gets even longer! :)
... VERY good!
Go on, reach your goal - you will be happy, im am sure..

Hey MD! Haven't seen ya in a while. Hope all is well with you. Thanks for the compliment! :)
Excellent progress, it's really progressing toward 'long' now.
Your hair seems to have similar texture to mine so I'm working out how I'd look if I got my shredded ends cut.
That's funny, because I keep asking myself, "ok, is this 'long' now?" :)
I suppose that by society's standards your hair is definitely long, my personal definition of "long" hair is shoulder length or more and from the photo yours looks to be almost shoulder length. Just my personal yardstick, everyone has their own.
Cheers
You said a "couple" of pics....would like to see an older shot of you too. Always interesting judging before and after photos, esp ones that show your face better.
Hi Dina,
I said "couple of pics" originally because I thought, once I was inside the post, that I would be able to upload a couple of pictures. Unfortunately, we can only upload one at a time. I realized after I posted that I mistakenly forgot to change the subject line. Sorry about that...
As far as older pics of me, Sherri's website has a couple of them. Unfortunately I don't have the link right now since I'm not on my own computer. But, I'm sure you can find it by searching for "mens long hair hyperboard pictures" or something like that. Does anyone have the link for Dina?

I think your hair looks fantastic. That is a great length for you too. Thanks for sharing.

I wish my 'good hair days' were as good as your 'bad hair days' !
That was funny. I guess we tend to be our own worst critics! :)
Thanks for the compliment, Dean. I can almost get a full tail with all the hair staying in. I'll try to post a pic with a pony tail over the next couple of days. In fact, I'll do a half-tail too, in a separate post since we can only upload one pic at a time. "See" you soon! :)
