Hello,
I just found this message board tonight! My name is Bill and my page (see the provided link) is on the longhaired men webring. So about this message's title...
I am a longhair, and I've always loved math (at least enough to get a BS and MS in Applied Mathematics). Certain people seemed shocked to find out that I have a brain underneath all this hair. But the funny thing is, some of the most famous mathematicians had long hair! I saw a poster titled "The Faces of Calculus", which showed pictures and profiles of some of the most all-time famous mathematicians (such as Isaac Newton, Leibniz, and Euler)...and all of them had long hair.
So, just thought I'd mention that mathematics is yet another field where you find a lot of accomplished men who had long hair!

Bill,
Thanks for visiting. I hope you will be a regular here. Incidentally, mathematics is one of my true loves. I have on occasion had the thought that if there is a god his name is mathematics. The purest truths seem to be in mathematics, although, as you know, there are problems.
Looks like you are not only a mathematician and musician but also an artist. I will have to look around your site in more detail later.
As an aside, I host another message board for bearded and moustachioed men and the occasional woman. Why do I mention this despite the fact you are clean-shaven? Well, a recent and recurring question is "How do you decide where the beard ends and the chest hair begins." Looking at one of your pictures, it appears you have had to confront this question yourself. Perhaps you would like to join the thread on that other board.
I like long straight hair, because it makes the head look like a triangle. If you look at the book-cover of Simon Singh's book called
Fermat's Enigma, you will notice that Fermat's head is in a triangle! It seems fitting that the book is about mathematics.
