Ive been growing my hair for about 11 months now and its almost shoulder length. Thats my goal length, and to keep it as straight as possible. The problem is when I started growing my hair, for the first 3 months, my hair became very bushy. When I wet it, woke up in the morning, same problem. I was forced to put tons of gel to keep it straight. I find this very unusual becuase when my hair was short it was very straight. Any way, last month it was 10 months and I decided to see what a hair stylest could do. He suggested that I let him put a relaxer in my hair and my hair would be permanently straight and managable. So he did and for that whole day my hair was everything I dreamed it would be. Then, the next night I washed and my hair went back to wavy. How pissed I was. I called the salon the next day and the guy gave me some bullshit story of how I should put gel in my hair aafter I shower to keep it straight. Other stylest suggest I should blowdry after I wet it, but this makes it frizzy. I am in big need of help, and I already blew away $53. Is there any way I can keep my hair straight permanently, after I shower, in the morning, when its humid? I am very close to cutting my hair.
Guy,I don't know much about relaxing proceedures 'cept for the idea that they're harsh on your hair. Based on what my stylist tells me about my own problems with the above - and I trust this man because he's a no _ _ _ _ dude; blow drying and silicone products are your only answer.(For myself,I only do the full routine on important occassions, the rest of the time I live with my waves.)Instead of the silicones every day, try Lustrasilk's Moisture Max,Mega-Moist Oil Moisturising Hair Lotion - pick it up at K Mart about $2 and change.
For me this eliminates a lot of frizz, calms the bush look and gives some TLC to my hair.KMS has a good range called Flat Out - won't give you dead straight hair but'll help a great deal.(Also pricey at about $20 per product - however they last. They've got a site and if you call requesting samples they'll send off a few; 800.342.5567 and look up some info on the line at www.cosmeticconnection.com/kmshair.html)
Frieda's Frizz Ease extra strength serum helps too,but remember they're all silicones.Good luck and persevere, its worth it!
