I've noticed that the ideal texture for long hair on men is straight. Why is that? I have straight hair and I'm happy with it but I wish my hair could have a little body so it doesn't look greasy after the end of the day.
Straight hair is best for length, curly is best for bulk. No matter what we have, I think a little bit we envy the guys who have the other kind, for the attributes they get that we lack. It's easy to forget to appreciate the advantages we get with our own kind of hair.
I'm quite curly, and I like the bulk I get. No one ever sees me from any angle and doubts I'm a longhair, while some straight-haired guys with their hair in a tail can look close to buzz-cut from the front. Even if I put my hair in a tail, its thick curliness shows on the top of my head, and the young short strands very quickly assert their independence and float free of the older strands that reach the tie. When my hair is not restrained it all is much happier to stay together - much of the curling is in unison. So I tend to wear my hair loose most of the time - it just looks better. (Of course, all this means I cannot so easily appease those who would rather my longhaired look would just go away. No matter what I do with the length I have, I will look longhaired.)
On the down side, it takes forever to get curly hair to show length, because it grows around in circles more than down. The strands of curly hair are flattened rather than round, and this means they dry out easier and are more fragile, things also diminishing the length we ultimately get. I've seen quite a few guys with hair below their waist, and almost all of them had straight hair.
One thing that's marvelous about human hair is all the variety we get, and for most of that rainbow of diversity to reveal itself, we have to be longhaired! Hey, whatever hair type we have, we're the coolest looking dudes on the planet!
Long, waving or curly male hair is gorgeous and worth whatever hassle. Just keep letting it grow to your favored length. Think of Burt Lancaster in THE FLAMAE AND THE ARROW or THE CRIMSON PIRATE, William Katt in CARRIE or Warren Beatty in THE PARALLAX VIEW or SHAMPOO. Now there's a bumper crop of men's hair. It will catch the light superbly and you'll get a lot of admiring glances. Good luck!
I love men with very strait baby fine hair.
I like long straight hair, because it makes the head look like a triangle.
Also, I like long curly hair, because it makes the head look like a ball. I like long hair, because of the various geometric shapes that it can make.
If you don't want to look like something that jsut came up from the gruond or like an hippy that never have seen a bruch you have to wear it in a pony-tail, have a lot of stuffs in the hair or walk around with wet hair....
Wavy or curly hair is great, especially if it's long. Just keep growing to your desired length. Think of Willian Katt in CARRIE, especially. Now that's a bumper crop of gorgeous hair!
(Sorry for screwing up the comments on Re:. Especially to Bill. I didn't mean to add to your comments. I'm still learning how to respond to these chat pages!
