Picture Purged
Hi folks. I've finally decided I'd like a new hairstyle and I'd love to try long hair, but I have no idea if it'll suit me or not!
I'm also clueless as to how to go about it. The impression I get from reading posts is that you just use conditioner and let it grow?
My hair tends to grow up and out, how do you manage to make it go into the middle parting and lie flat?
I'll try to add a pic of me so you can tell if this is possible for me or not (I'm the guy!). I'm totally new at this hair stuff!!!!
Thanks in advance folks!
Your hair looks to be the perfect consistancy for growing long. Not too thick and not too thin. After your hair gets so long it will start to drop no matter how thick it is. My hair seems to be thicker than yours and mine lays down fine now that it is longer. The challenge here is getting through the awkward stage where your hair is transitioning between short and long and is difficult to handle. If you can live through this than you will be home free with long hair. I am just coming out of the awkward stage myself, but untill I can get it ALL into a loose hassle free ponytail, I will not be completely satisfied. But it won't be long. Hope I have helped. There is so much more to learn, so stick around, bro! Peace!
Thanks for the response. It was just what I was hoping for! My goal I think is to get it down to my shoulders. I got a haircut a few days ago so now I can make a proper start to this. So exciting!
You will look absolutely smashing with longer hair, I hope you go for it. There is tons of great advice here to help you as you grow. What have you got to lose? Mary
Thanks! I think I'm going to try it. Like you said, I have nothing to lose. And all the progress pictures I've seen have looked great. Very inspiring!
Greetings:
Will long hair suit you? Peruse the websites of some of the BB members and look at their progress pics. I've yet to see anyone who looked better with short hair. And not only does long hair look good, it makes you feel like a new person...and I've found it surprisingly easier to care for than short hair.
Good luck, and welcome aboard!
Jeremy
Hi & Welcome!
You don't seem that clueless, you have it about right - take care of your hair & don't get too much cut off, thats the basics!
In a nutshell here's what you need to know:
- Avoid Heat (Blow drying)
- Avoid Colouring or Bleaching hair
- Avoid Harsh Combing (tearing through knots etc)
- Avoid Hair Cuts (Average hair growth rate is 0.5 inch/month)
- Use a good Shampoo & Conditioner
- Comb & Brush your hair gently so it doesn't get tangled
- It'll take 18-24 months to reach your goal length.
- Gel & hats are tools of the awkward stage
- Long Hair suits everyone.
- Enjoy Growing, its supposed to be fun!
If you have questions please ask there are lots of ppl who will be happy to help!
Hope to See you around
Sorted.
I am sure you will have killer long hair someday and it will look fantastic!
The advice of Sorted and Treyn is great.
Good luck on your journey and try to "enjoy" it as you go along as there will be MANY changes along the way before you are a true Longhair.
