Hi thanks for replying to my last message i just wondered if anyone had any tips for saying things to people that say " you should get your hair cut" like a back chat line ??? i am in year 10 in school by the way this message board is like sooo cool !!!
Maybe "But that would make me like you" :)
just smile
How about "You laugh at me because I'm different. I laugh at you because you're all the same!"
There are a great many things that you can say and if you sit down and think ahead (since you will undoubtedly run into this a number of times as you grow and maintain long hair) then you can be prepared with just the right response for the situation.
See my site for a few ideas. Just remember that one response doesn't fit everybody and you do have to watch what you say to people.
"And my long hair affects you... HOW?"
OR;
"I could get a haircut and possibly look better, but you'll always be ugly and narrow-minded no matter what you do."
Ask them how they would feel if someone asked them to cut off their fingers and toes.
I think its fun when people I know, sometimes not very well see me and say in their most innocent voice "your hairs getting long isnt it..?" leaving out the "...dont you think you should get it cut" part for me to fill in. To which I usually reply "yes it is isnt it..." thats me leaving the "...and I like it like this" part for them to fill in. Its whats not said that speaks volumes.
I have had long hair for several years now and most of the time, for me, the best response is no response.
when people tell me to get a hair cut I simply ask them "which one?
