Further to my reply to Mike below re: the Coupe Sauvage cut, I am looking for suggestions or images of styles which could be considered as unisex for hair of any length - from the very short (which can by definition be unisex and worn by both men and women) to the very long (and more appropriate to this site). I have a general interest in this area and would appreciate any ideas. For example I have seen the Rachel cut from Friends and the Gillian Anderson cut from the X-Files both been suggested here or on other sites as being great for men While I appreciate that generally this is really asking for styles currently sported by women that could be worn by men as well, any images would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cath
I don't think either, esp. the Rachel cut, is unisex.
Gillian Anderson's cut (and variations of) are very
popular among women in corporate America.
The only unisex medium-to-long hairstyles I can think
of are bowl haircuts and blunt cuts to the shoulder
blades. Neither cut looks out-of-the-ordinary for
young people of either sex in mainstream U.S. society.
I dont want to upset anyone too much, but I think that the style put up by Richard does not have much style at all compared with that generally worn by women. I think that this is why so many women moan about men having long hair, because it just sits there and grows and they do nothing with it to enhance their features or create a statement in the same way that women do. If you have the patience and committment to grow it long then at least do something more imagninative at the end. I am still open to suggestions for styles that guys have tried (or would like to try but have been too afraid to ask) or styles that women think men should try.
This is true for most men these days. But then again, long hair
on a man itself is probably a statement.
The only time I've seen long haired men try something stylish was
during the 80's with the glam rock look. Otherwise, most longhaired
men just seem to let their hair grow with little regard for the
versatility of styling long hair.
I have been wearing my hair in a straight bob for about a year. I used Sandra Bullock's cut she wore in 'Speed' as a model. I don't usually set it, just turn the ends under with a round brush and blow dryer. I really like it because it frames my face without looking too femme. I'm in the process of letting it grow longer, using Jennifer Aniston/Friends look as a direction. It's just past my shoulders now. The most troubling issue is letting my bangs grow out, and what to do with them at its currently in-between length. My stylist has already started to layer the sides along my face to get away from the blunt bob look and to give it more movement.
Ultimately, I would like it to be about mid-back length, 3-4" past my shoulders in the front. I'm pleased with the layers on the sides, but I'm not sure about lettting my bangs grow out. I will welcome any suggestions you have for styles of this length.
