One, is Victor Engel Slavic? Two,I want to grow a beard. Is it like growing long hair from a shaved head or what?

I have no idea what growing long hair from a shaved head is like.
What age did you begin growing your hair?
When my age was in single digits, my preferred length was crewcut, believe it or not. I liked the way the hairs stuck straight up in the air. From about age 10, my preferred length was longer than everyone else's. I didn't have an opportunity to try it really long, though. About the time it got to the length I felt was right (a bit past the earlobes), it was time to go to the butcher -- er, barber.
I guess it wasn't until I was married that I grew it really long at the request of my wife. I allowed her to cut it the way she wanted, and she gave me a mullet (she won't admit now that it was her idea). I was in my early twenties then. I cut it again in 1992 for a job interview (my future manager, a woman, turned out to be married to someone with yard-long hair), and I haven't cut it since.
Hey, I'm going to Norway next week. I have blood that came from there too.
I've got a goatee that I keep very short and neat. But when I'm off work or over the weekends, I dont shave so the full beard starts to come through.
It grows FAST. But you'll need to learn to cope with the itchy stage when you get the short hairs on your neck area. But that's supposed to pass in time.
It all depends on how big a beard you want and what style. :)
growing a beard is like growing hair in that... well, you just stop cutting it and before you realize it it's there :)
