Does anybody else have this problem. I am growing my hair long in
the back so I can have a ponytail, some of the time. I noticed that alot of guys who have really long ponytails, have the length only
ONLY ONLy coming from the middle of the back of the head. There is
a great gap behind the ears that is not part of the pony tail, and is very short in fact. ONly center of back about the size of a softball is the area the ponytail is pulled from. I got behind the ears cut and when I leave my hair down, there is a gap showing behind ears. which there is , but how do guys do this and when they let there ponytail down it doesn't show and long hair comes forward. I would appreciate any comments anybody would have.thanks
what you have described is a variation of the mullet. you have described a hairstyle that when tied back gives no frontal appearance of being long. if i understand your post correctly, you want a style that is more visibly long when you untie the ponytail... try either growing more of the back hairs out OR try an undercut style- that is grow out the hair on top and cut close or even shave the sides and back... when tied back this looks short from the front- when worn loose can give the appearance of being long all over, including up front. i have seen waist-length variations of this style. personally, i prefer to grow it all out... much lower maintenance in the long run.
