Has anyone noticed this...I've noticed that having a large portion of meat (eg. lamb steak, beef steak, chicken)
every day for a period of time (e.g month) makes hair grow a little faster.
I say this because from Feb 28th
to March 28th, when I ate meat regularly (butcher meat, not wafer thin ham:d), I noticed my hair grew a total of
just over 1 inch in that month. When comparing this with March 28th to April 28th growth record, I only managed
0.75 inches which I had not eaten meat on most days. What's going on!? It's a strange thing to say I know, but
maybe it's been posted before only I wasn't a member then. Could this be a connection with an increase in
protein intake and slightly faster hair growth? I seem to think so?!
Any comments?
Even 0.75 inches of hair growth per month is about 50% faster than most guy's hair grows!
Thanks luckskind, I guess I am blessed with fast growing hair :)
When I first started getting serious about weightlifting, which entailed eating a lot of protein along with it, I certainly noticed my fingernails growing faster. So I've thought since then that PERHAPS it helps hair grow faster, but I wasn't completely sure since I didn't measure, and at the time, I was getting short haircuts anyways. As long as you're not a vegetarian, I would recommend eating tons of chicken and tuna, and sometimes beef.
And for those of us that are vegetarian, if you eat any grain along with any legume, you get a complete protein. Or just eat peanut butter :)
I'm a vegetarian, and my hair seems to grow at an average rate (6-7 inches a year).
Ed
6-7 inches is average??? I'm so glad mine grows faster - I don't think I could do it otherwise!

I'm also vegetarian, and have to say that my hair grows at a normal rate at 1/2 inch a month..maybe more.
I've been here for nearly 4 months, and read your guide a good few times before.
You say that
nothing can really make hair grow faster, unless your deficient in a certain mineral due to your
diet. . Then how come I managed the results I achieved e.g feb-march= 1.2 inches, march-april=
0.75) which I did not each much meat(protein) at all in that month. If your thinking I could
have calculated it wrong, I have a strand which hangs down more or less independently on my
forehead and that is where I measure it, so I can make an accurate comparison.
Since I don't have scientific control over your experiments then I nor anyone else can
verify your claims. Your success is heresay (not trying to bash you so don't take
offense). If you have been able to increase your keratin strands by eating animal
protein then you may be able to amaze some people as this is not a new claim and is
"discovered" by those beginning to grow their hair long when they apply simple reasoning
without much detailed knowledge about the hair itself.
There have always been a great
many claims about how to increase hair length beyond the speed that one's body normally
grows it but the fact that you can claim that you can increase it should mean that you
can also decrease it by modifying whichever behaviors you are claiming increase it
with.
You can see where claims can get bogged down.
You may want to check out
this information which gives good insight (and facts) about what does affect hair
growth.
Ok I do see your point your trying to make. I did not say by eating meat my hair
has definately grown because of that, but it seems very like due to the fact
that from March to April, the absence of large quantities of meat resulted in a
smaller increase of growth.
On April 28th, 5 months after my last haircut, my
hair measured 4.2 inches, but my hair usually grows very close to an inch every
month at least. To make sure of this, I compared my documented records, while I
was a little obsessed tbh, and it turned out that except from March to April, my
hair had grown on avarage nearly 1 inch every month. This made me wonder why the
last month resulted in slower growth. I did not expect an accurate 5 inches for
5 months record, but give and take, around the 4.5 to 5 inch mark. I did not eat
a lot of meat throughout that month and did not follow my daily routine of
taking Hair skin and nails mineral tablets either. I know that because I've
taken them for a few months nearly everyday, a short absence should not result
in any deficiency, so thats why I wrote the post, because I wasn't
sure.
Anyway, your entitled to your own opinion, but thanks anyway for your
support, I really do enjoy reading your posts and advice.
Actually the RAQ didn't say anything about a certain mineral being deficient in one's diet as a reason for "slowing"? hair growth. Maybe you skimmed it too quickly?
excess protein is bad for you (watch out for your bones)

...for all your comments, I agree with Brian that all hair is excess of protein, and the connection
between protein in the form of meat, and hair growth, seems very likely.
I normally have fast growing
hair, about an inch or just slightly under. I'll try eating plebnty of meat this month and will report
if I see anything significant, but I wont be touching beef.
Thanks
you might find that interesting if you're to make that choice

just so you know what you're sacrifying (especially if you have already super quick growing hair :)

DUDE!, I've just read that article, you've changed my mind completely about consuming
lots of protein!
Those claims on that website are backed up with hard hitting facts,
man, I didn't realize!
I used to be vegetarian before for 3 years, when I was 9 - 12,
but one day I went to Mc Donalds on my friends birthday and that was the end ('sobs'). I
may become vegetarian again, depends, I will eat much less protein definately, and be
careful about meat in general.
Thank you for the link.
Glad it helped!! :)
take care
