Hey y'all. I lurk these boards a lot but haven't posted before. I am in the process of growing my hair out but have yet to hit that awkward stage everyone talks about, so I'm not truly a longhair yet. Anyway, I have the opportunity to go into the Wal-Mart stores manager training program and I was wondering if anyone here works for them and what their policies are regarding long hair, especially for managers? Thanks.
I was offerd to work there once but turned it down, I've seen quite a few longhairs working there including managers so I don't see it being a problem. The only policy I know of is a no facial peircing policy so you should be ok.
FORGET IT Your get CRAP from the big wigs at the head office
Hi.I had a good friend that worked for wal mart for ten years and worked his way up to a manager. He had hair you guys would die for THICK / MID BACK/ COLD BLACK..Very groomed well.....Well one day a BIG SHOT from the head office showed up for a look at the store..............He got called in the office and was told to cut or fired......SOME FAT BALD MAN............told him. he said hell with you and walked out...........SO i think its matters if the wrong person in managment see you.......
good to hear that the guy didn't take crap from this loser head office guy; hope he's doing well today!
In the UK, the WalMart stores are called 'Asda' - my local branch has a number of men with long hair working there.
I wonder why they are called: 'Asda'? That seems so strange.
When WalMart bought the whole chain of Asda stores they kept the branding but added WalMart alongside it (confusing!)
The name ASDA is a contraction of Associated Dairies and was founded in 1965 by a group of farmers from Yorkshire. They merged with Kingfisher in the 90's and became a national sucess then Walmart acquired them in 1999.
Like Walmart, ASDA have a reputation for being cheap. But their corporate image is always pretty good, unlike Walmart. I think its because they've stayed pretty loyal to their humble roots.
[I guess I'm just a fountain of useless information.]
Ahh I see why it's called ASDA now.
I heared, although don't quote me on this, that Walmart in America was associated with being cheap and bad in quality, so to be accepted in the UK, they had to get rid of the name for commercial purposes: They didn't want the UK to think it's the same cheap Walmart as the one in America.
I have never been to America, but this is what my cousin told me, where he has been on numerous occasions.
hmmmm...the prices at Wal-Mart are very 'cheap'
and they do sell lots of their own 'cheap' brands but...
they also carry famous name-brand items so people always have a choice.
They carry just about every brand of hair product...
some of which are quite expensive, though much cheaper
than at other stores.
Wal-mart is a plague upon mankind. You cannot convince me otherwise. : )
Wal-mart owner's creed: Cut costs.
What's the most expensive factor of production? Labor.
What's the most expensive part of labor? Insurance.
What, specifically? Health insurance.
Guess what Wal-mart uses to cut costs? Bingo.
