I dunno why I'm even raising the point, I'm not about to try and talk him out of it, he knows his own mind well enough. Just a little surprised we didn't hear about it on the board.
Be a little sad to see him shave it though, his hair is awesome!
I agree, Sorted,
his hair looks kick ass, I can't understand why he wants to buzz!. I understand if he cut it
slightly, but to buzz it all off, that would be very sad indeed. I saw his website with the buzz
message last month.Evil Milkman, if you're reading this, plz reconsider, don't buzz.

Yeah, I saw this news on The Haircut Site board. Those guys of course are encouraging him to go really short. It will be interesting. I hope if he does cut it; it won't be something extreme but it is his hair.
I visited family for Mother's Day weekend. Basically traveled 5 hours to hear complaints with a couple of compliments about my hair. The majority did not like it long. There were a couple that did. All I can say is I'm glad I don't live close.
Thanks for the encouragement. Its good to have a group of folks who encourage freedom of thought and expression. The world seems to be very lacking of those two qualities as of late.
...he..he...
Could you post the link?
Milkman has been posting on those boards for some time. I saw posts by him back when we were looking at Stanley's posts over there. So he's been "on the fence" for a long time. Hey, if he decides short hair is for him, then let him cut away.
Come Derby Day, heat settles over the Ohio Valley and the temperature will be in the 90s every day until mid-September. The humidity will be higher. You've got to really want to have long hair down there to have it in the summer. May is a great time to cut if you don't.

As an English teacher, I must point out that it's "lose", not "loose".
Yeah, it's a shame he's going to cut his hair. Even worse is the fact that he's going to get it buzzed. In my opinion, there is no worse haircut than a buzz. I've never seen a buzz cut I thought looked even half decent.
It's his hair. I suspect that once he gets it cut, he'll like it for a few weeks and then regret it. It's like the dreaded and horrible undercut. The thrill and love of the undercut lasts about a couple of weeks, then the reality of it sets in.
I hope he takes the time to come here and at least give us a farewell.
I'm glad it's not just me that wants to correct everyone's spelling ! (and I know that's bad grammar). If I had a for every incorrect spelling of 'definitely' I've seen on this board, I could afford a mid-price hair transplant !!
PS I realised how sad this post was when I typed it....
Not sad at all. I think the execrable spelling by some on this board is sad.
"Definitely" is without question one of the most butchered words out there.
Thanks for pointing that out.
I'm dyslexic, so I confuse words and mispell them all the time, my worst one is "apology" I can spell it 5 different ways in the same paragraph and not notice.
The way words are constructed just holds no meaniful patterns to me, so I can rattle them off several different ways and not realise that I'm doing it.
As an English Teacher you'll probably know this is a disability not ignorance, so I'm sure you'll forgive the slip.
You are also British, so you have two spelling disabilities. [wink]
One thing that makes this site beautiful is all the diversity we see here! Don't change a thing.

Lol!
Yeah actually American Spellings are a real pain particularly all the 'z'
you guys throw into words inplace of an 's'
Half the software I have with spell checkers are American, can you imagine what this is like for me, I'm 100% dependent on Spell Checkers, think how I feel when they have a go me, even when I spell a word right! I dunno if I'm coming or going!
Some programmes even have American spellings for some words even when the spellchecker is set to UK. That specifically happens to me on those s/z words, i.e. the spellchecker wants to change my British s to and American z even when it thinks it's on British spelling. I'm specifically thinking of WordPerfect, which is nowadays a Canadian programme (although it originated in Utah way back when). Maybe Canadians use a z in ise/ize words?
American English also eliminates the "u" in many words.
Examples: Rumour (American = Rumor); Behaviour (American = Behavior); etc.
Also, the British do a lot more compound words than the Americans. It's very interesting to see some of these words every time I'm in the Queen's country!
Yeah, we have been squirreling away all those saved u's deep in Fort Knox. Someday when there is a u shortage, you won't laugh then!
The Britishism that really jumps off the page at me is this one that has two manglings in it: Maneuver = manoeuvre.
You guys also say aluminum and schedule really differently but I don't know if you spell them differently. I've noticed them when heard.
I think he says that someone else is going to get buzzed and he is going to get a cut at the same time, but this is going to take place at a party. Not a good choice of venue. A few beers and he could come away with a blue mohican. Mind you, even that would look better than a buzz cut. He could wake up in the morning with one side of his head shaved, LOL!
I agree. I've always liked his hair but I don't think he was ever too happy with it...
Another thing that strikes me, that most guys think either "extremely long" or "shaved" when it comes to hair. As if there was no "in between".

While it is a shame to loose another member of the long
hair club we need to bear in mind it is
****HIS****
hair and he can do whatever he wants with it.
Good luck with wherever his journey takes him.
Freedom means the freedom to grow your hair as long
as you want......it's also the freedom to cut it
as
short as you want.
It's all about whatever floats your boat.
Here's an email I just received form Aaron aka: "evilmilkman"
Looks like he may not cut his hair afterall...
"To all,
Thanks for all of your interest in my hair. I'm actually reconsidering about the
haircut. Today I had a good hair day, and now I'm not sure if I'd want to cut.
So, I'm going to
hold out unless I change my mind. Actually, I may try to not post anymore for a while on any of the
boards. I need to find out what I want.
You are welcome to let anyone else know that I changed
my mind for now.
Thanks!
-Aaron"
From "longhairguys1" aka: John......
So am I correct in
understanding that the two week rule
shoudl restart with today?
A lot of the time I'm not happy with my hair. I work outdoors; it gets hot, dirty, sweaty, etc... It's getting old wearing a bandanna everyday. On top of that, it's EXTREMELY EXTREMELY EXTREMELY frizzy and UGLY if I don't straigten the underneath and sides. This most likely causes damage, at least somewhat (maybe that's not too big of a deal, though). It takes a good hour (at LEAST) to wash/dry/style it when I come home from working. In short, it's a pain in the proverbial ass. A buzz probably wouldn't look all that bad on me, and I'd most likely let it grow out again over the summer.
However, it's true that I may reconsider. I've come so far it's almost a shame to give it up now. I realize that eventually I'll get it cut, but maybe not in the near future.
Who knows what this future may bring. Anyway, now you're all informed some more.
No promises are being made either way at this point.
If he cuts his hair I predict he'll be back here eventually, moaning and groaning about what a mistake it was to cut it, and we'll go through the same thing all over again while he grows it out the next time.
I hope this isn't a pattern in the rest of his life: set a goal, become conflicted, abandon the goal before completion, then revisit the original goal.
Milkman,
If your hair is giving you lots of long-term trouble, I would agree with you to give it a cut, though
maybe just up to ear length or something - you suit it like that, and it wouldn't take you as long to
re-grow if you decide that's what you want to do.
Good luck!
wolfeyes
Evil Milkman,
Man, I really think you shouldn't get your hair buzzed, I've seen your picture, on your website.
the one titled, 'This what I looked like a long time ago' - or something like that. After
looking at that, it's clear that it would be a tragic event. You say your best times are past
you with your hair, If you believe that. have it cut, yes, like Wolfeyes said, but not
buzzed.
I think a cool look that really suited you is the pictures taken in July 2003, very
cool hair there: if you cut it to that length, you can have fun experimenting with it.
I've
got a feeling you're going to be very dissapointed if you decide to have have it buzzed off.
