Picture Purged
Here is a picture that I took this morning. I have not had a haircut since December 6th. I know its not long for many of you here but its long for me. I wanted to share.
Thanks for the encouragement.

Hey, don't worry man, it will get longer, especially as summer's just around the corner!
We both started around the same time as each other, I started from nearly a buzz (I estimate around 1/8 of an inch), what did you start from.
If you want it to grow as its optimum rate, keep your metabolism going, you probably know that already, but start spending less time being taken around in cars, and walk it instead. I walk about 8 miles every day, from my school.
Oh yea, and meditate, i've taken a leaf out of Wolfeyes book , it's pretty cool, I want it to grow so much, so I channel this 'want'
to my hair.
Keep it growing, oh yea looks like good condition too!
Thanks for the encouragement. I guess I started from about 1/2 inch maybe less. I don't know for sure. I'll see if I can find a pic from that time frame.
I have been working out since beginning of January. Have lost 20 pounds. My hair is very thick. At 37 I am grateful it is still there. It has very little gray in it.
I worry about shampooing too much. I shampoo in the morning and then when I work out. I am not sure about the shampoo at the gym, it is probably not of the highest quality.
I was addicted to getting it cut for such a long time. It feels good to let it grow. We will see how long it goes. One month at a time.

Hi Steve,
I'm another one who started in december, so we can all keep each other going. Well done with the owrkout routine. I know it can be a really hard thing to get started - I organise workout routines for my friends - just simple things.
Your hair is looking good - and you are fortunate to have good genetic material on your side (My hair's starting to grey already and I'm pushing 24.. but then it's definately better than not having hair to grow in the first place like some people I know.
Anyway, keep growing and stay in touch.
Good luck.

Thanks for the encouragement on both fronts. The hair was a commitment I made to a guy who frequents the long hair board. He knew that I was obsessed with getting my haircut and so challenged me to abstain from haircuts for 6 months. Well I am going into my 7 month and hanging tight. Though I may consider getting the sides shortened. It seems so "big" if you know what I mean.
The workout deal was something for myself. I had gone to doctor and everything was good; I was actually in really good shape for the shape I was in. Decided one day to give up Colas (was drinking 5 a day). Began to stop eating biggest portions and going for like lunch portion for dinner. I joined Men's Health on the net and they set up simple routine for me. 3 days of weight training; 3 days of cardio. I do want to begin to bulk up a bit. Any advice would be appreciated. You are welcome to email.
Anyway hope you enjoy the day.
Steve
if you want to bulk up cut back on the cardio... it burns both fat and muscle. employ a full body 'split' where you work different muscle groups on different days and don't neglect legs or back... working the bigger groups will stimulate testosterone production. muscle mass itself helps to burn fat and your metabolism will speed up which among other things can help with hair growth.
I agree with that, I have been under a lot of pressure writing Advanced level (A level in UK) coursework and for about over 3 months, every day consisted of arriving home, working, tea, then work again, (on computer), many of the times, throughout the night with no sleep. The next day in school I'd be shattered.
But now the coursework's over, and I have been exercising every day since 2 weeks ago, I'm enjoying a hair growth spurt again, well, a bit overdue but now my metabolism is running good again and I hope I can resume my 1 inch growth rate a month as it's been pretty slow recently.

Here are some of my modelling photos from a friend's art project a couple of years back.
Bulking up can be pretty simple. Cutting back a little on cardio will help.
Diet is important - eat plenty of carbs and protein - chicken and rice is the best possible dish - it knows exactly where to go!
The best thing to do is increase your weights, do smaller sets and more repetitions (Like 4 sets of 20) - depending on what's comfortable for you.
Eat plenty of heathy food - make sure you're never going hungry :)
Remember also to take rest periods for your body to repair muscle - 4 days on, 2 days off always worked best for me.
Drink plenty of water - it helps your body repair muscle and will make sure you don't ache as much after working out. Also be sure to stretch before any heavy session - you don't want to be paying for it for the next week.
That's pretty much all that comes to mind.
Good luck!

Also meant to say - fish is good, and creatine is another option; not everyone likes to use it, but I've heard of good results from friends of mine. However, I'd ask about it first cos I'm not exactly sure how it works.
Also didn't explain the sets and repetitions very well... When bulking up, it's best to lift heavier weights; but where you would normally have been doing, say, 30 lifts of a 20kg barbell (which is better for toning up muscle), you can now do 15/20 lifts of a 30kg barbell (the weights I'm mentioning are just for example btw). Then take a break, work on something else like your stomach, then do another set of 15/20.
Best to figure out what weight and how many repetitions suits your bosy and strength. But this method worked a charm for me. Then once you've bulked up, you can start the toning workout to make your muscle more defined.
Hope that all makes sense.
