My bangs are getting to the length where I'm going to have to part them down the middle. I can push them to the side, but it just falls back into my eyes, happens all the time when I'm driving especially, so it's a real problem.
I'm gonna have to start using some gel soon I think, but once it's long enough (as in 6 inches or so) will it stay parted down the middle on it's own, instead of just falling in my face? It won't be long enough to tuck behind my ears for many months, and I need to do something soon.
Thanks for the advice
Yes you will have to slick your hair down with some kind of gel for some time. Keep in mind that the parting you used with short hair may not suit your longer hair. I suggest you experiment with the position of the part. You can try the middle, slightly off center, or to one side. You can also try combing your hair straight back. Find something you like but remember that as your hair gets longer you should continue to experiment with different styles. There are various gels and pommades on the market - it is mostly a matter of finding one that works for you. During this stage you could also wear a bandana. Look at my 2003 progress picture archive for some encouragement during this difficult stage in your hair growth. Good luck!
Thanks Gollan, your hair's getting long, that's pretty crazy that your just getting out of the awkward stage. I hope I can make it.
Looks like another few months or so until I'll be pretty happy with it, heh. I'll keep going after that though, but I'll see when it gets longer.
My hair is about the length yours was in the 7 month pictures. The back has an annoying thing going on where it hasn't quite reached my collar, except when I'm at work and have to wear a white shirt and a bowtie.
I didn't realize you could change your part's location. Probably because my hair has always ben so short, I've never been able to really part it. So I was worried I'd never be able to get it to split down the middle.
If anything, once your hair gets really long, "in the middle" will become your part whether you want it to or not. Gravity sees to that.
Short hair can be made to part wherever you want, because it doesn't weigh much. It's tougher to get long hair to not just do what it does naturally, which is "part itself down the middle".
Often, one way I'll spot a longhair whose mane I cannot see is to notice his center part. Many longhairs have a center part and few other men do.

Cool, that's what I want. I can't wait for the day when I can tie it back, at least I've got all summer to look like crap before I have to go meet new people in college.
Well now, finally, I thought i'd never get there, my bangs are falling in my eyes and I love it!
It gives me a bit of a headache sometimes, but I love the new length.
i just thought, what if you tied a piece of cotton the same colour as your hair and tied your bangs to each side of your head, once it parts in the middle?
