I was watching Breakfast show on BBC1 this morning, and there was an informal chat between the two presenters who are Natasha Kaplinsky and Dermot Murnaghan (sp?) with a psychologist and I trend expert I think.
The subject was hair, and while they talked most about hair on women, Dermot asked them what the fashion is set to look like for men, and they said that many more men are showing off longer shaggy styles, but they made no mention of real long hair on men. I suspect these 'shaggy styles' they've seen are probably from people who are in the middle of the awkward stage lol. They also said that a footballer (Rio Ferdinand??) has been having short back and sides recently, so that could be the summer fashion also, but they say It looks set to be 'in' by winter.
...Of course they talk some right b**locks. Long hair will be in 'summer' and 'winter'. More winter than summer I expect because it will give extra insulation from the cold. Why would they cut their hair off in the middle of winter, that would be such a stupid fashion trend. By the way, that caught my eye when I was revising, I don't watch that programme often.
Really LONG hair on men is something that will alway be on the rarer side:
It's just too much 'trouble' for most guys to cope with.
Anybody who tells you that really long hair doesn't
require more time & care,
doesn't know what he is talking about.
As my hair gets longer & longer, I find myself naturally 'adjusting' to new situations.
For instance, when combing out my hair, I must now be very careful
to begin at the ends, to prevent any 'knots' from forming.
Basically though, because you must deal with your hair on a daily basis,
this continuous 'adjustment' to your hair happens almost without
your really noticing it.
Also, you can always find great info & support on this site!
Hello Luckskind,
It really depends on the person. There will be people out there that spent a lot of time mucking about with their short hair to get it just right many times a day and later grows out to discover a pontyail can be simpler and longer lasting. Though, I tend to think the people that made short hair a lot of work will do the same to long hair. Someone who is completely no fuss about hair is not likely to grow long because of the work that can be involved, but I still see it can be about the same amount of effort just in different ways.
Washing daily may take the same amount of time as washing longer hair once a week. Constraining styles such as a braid or multiple bands down the length of a ponytail can prevent most tangles in some hair types and are quick styles to accomplish. for me there would be more work if my hair was shorter and worn loose more often. Hair type really does play a big role in this, there will be people out there with hair less prone to tangles so for some people there is little if any extra care involved.

is that it never goes in or out of style. Really long hair transcends fashion, trendiness, and seasons. Instead, it is timeless. That's much better!

You couldn't have said it better Ed.
Right on, man.
I agree completely, but unfortunately, the majorities do not, hence the existance of changing styles. There does seem to be a small percentage (quite small in my geographic location, but still in existance), that will always love long hair. So our choices are, please the masses by following the herd like a sheep, or please few (including yourself)?
