Hi, My name is Rey. This is my first time posting, however have visited the site many times. I found the site a couple of years ago when living in San Antonio and started to grow my hair, I was already a year into growing it, but got tired of everyones comments (boss, inlaws, coworkers etc) and became self-conscience about it. I really didnt want to use stuff in my hair, but I have the thick wavy latino hair, so it would sometimes puff up pretty bad. Anyhow that along with continuous, you look better with short hair comments I completely shaved my head, to later regret it, especially since the comments were coming from people who should have no opinion. They were use to the fade. Some South Texas Latinos, like myself, have a tendency to get the marine style fade cut, well thats all good if youre in the armed forces, which I am not.
Well here I am again, and really dont care what others say anymore, moving to Austin long hair on men is everywhere. Makes it a lot easier, even when I dont use anything and it gets puffy, I still fit in. I love it.
Anyhow I just wanted to introduce myself.
I do have questions though, which I will post later with pics, dont want to drag this post too long.
Thanks
Rey
Good luck on your journey...both in becoming a longhair and in moving to Austin. I live in Asheville, NC, which is also very longhair friendly (lots and lots of longhair guys here), so I've yet to hear any negative comments as I grow my hair out.
Cheers,
Jeremy
I've heard that too. I've been to Austin, and I've been *near* Asheville but didn't go into the actual town. I can however, vouch that Austin has a lot of different types of people. The guy at the Kinko's we had to do some business in not only had hair that was long, it was flaming reddish-pink.
I live around Washington DC which I've heard people say is unfriendly. Any opinions on cities that sit near the top (friendliest) and the bottom (unfriendly)?
Actually, I've heard New Hampshire has a lot of longhairs too. Apparently it fits in with their whole sort of Liberal Republican/Libertarian outlook. Anyone here from NH?
Is there such a thing as a "Liberal Republican"? Isn't that an oxymoron? In today's political climate, with the ever-growing polarization, I can't imagine anyone being a liberal Republican or a conservative Democrat. Unfortunately, those who are moderate and in the middle are an endangered species.
The Republican party is anything but liberal. They're as conservative as they've ever been. Each year seems to show them going further and further right. They just fell off the east coast!
I'm quite liberal, though I do have some conservative views (death penalty, etc). In no way would I ever call myself a Republican.
I do find it interesting that both senators from New Hampshire are Republicans. I'd expect that in states like Texas or Alabama, but not a progressive state like New Hampshire.
LOL, latino hair? Heh, here its just called wavy hair. Anyways welcome to the board!
Welcome, good luck on the hair. Since your a Carguy, what kinda rides you into? Since I love cars too I thought I'd ask. Anyway, I have a 89 Dodge Caravan ES turbo, an 88 Daytona Shelby Z, and a second with t-tops. I love the fwd turbo stuff chrysler put out in the late 80's and early 90's. I really like the cars that came from chrysler corps colaboration with carrol shelby.
As for hair, mine is mid back and still growin.
I am into 50's customs, and corvettes, have a couple I am working on.
