I need some advise. You know the hairline at the forhead? Most guys have their hairline going back, I guess you can say a "receeding" hairline almost. "Box" shape hairline. People my age that do not have this "natural" hairline get it shaved that way; to make thier hairline that way. Well to my point, I have a round hairline in the front and I feel like it's more of a feminin hairline. I don't know if I should shave it(a barber would do it, we call it a "shape up") in to the "box" shape. Once I do, I will be a slave to it, but not only that.
What happens if one day I shave it myself to keep it neat and I slip and cut off one of my long hairs! That is my fear. What do you guys think? I really can't explain it very well, but I hope you guys understand what i'm saying.
If you do not understand what I am saying, look at this picture of Johnny Depp. http://www.deppimpact.com/chocolat/200/chocolat139.JPG
He has a "box" shape for a lack of a better term. As do most other male celebs or any male for that matter. My hairline is round.
Sorry for the long post.
Hell no, don't shave it. I'd love to hair a round hair line like yours, that doesn't recede at the corners. It was only after I found pictures of Milla Jovovich with a square hairline that I became comfortable with my own, lol.
I have been gettin shape ups...even when i had short hair, In my opinion it does make your hair line look better...more of a clean look especially on the side burns n "neck" hairline, but you have to be careful cuz sometimes the barber will push it bak a lil too far or sometimes cut into the bangs..hasnt happened to me but ive see people with this (looks bad). and ur also right about becoming a slave to it, you will have to keep goin bak every other week for a shape up which is a pain...and as a result i do my own shape ups now but im thinkin of regrowing my "shape up " hairs because im tired of trimming it and i have a box shaped hairline anyways
so if you think you can put up with the hassle of gettin shapeups all the time then go for it...the good part is that it does look alot better and more masculine but your hairline can easily get messed up so you have to watch out...
here is a picture
Thank you for all the comments. What I was talking about is exactly what G juice just said. I didn't mean I wanted a real receeding hairline. I just called it that, because thats the way it looks... How do you shave it yourself G juice? with just a razor or something else? I am also just worried about the barber messing up my hairline. If he does, i'd want to kill him. By the way, your shape up looks well done G juice!
I'd give me right ball to have a hairline that didn't recede ! Just shows that the grass is always greener...
Well said. you should be happy with what you have. And if your young who knows you may end up with that kind of hairline when youre older. Cuz I dont think most of the people with square hairlines(myself included) had them when they were kids.
Just be happy you don't have a friggin widow's peak!!!
What's wrong with a widow's peak? I find them quite attractive.
Nothing is wrong with them I suppose. I've had a very prominent one my entire life, and had to endure countless "Eddie Munster" comparisons. I guess that made me a bit sensitive about it. As I reached my 30's and got the natural raising of the hairline, the peak became even more pronounced. I try to downplay it because people tend to make a deal about it even to this day.
LOL. When I first read this post about front hairline trimming I thought I'd never heard about it but your mentioning the widow's peak reminded me that I once had 'stylist' at FirstChoice Hairc*tters *square off* my widows peak! It looked good but eventually I found it too odd to have someone else's hairline.
