Hi again,
I'm (still) letting my hair grow longer, and a hair stylist was recommended to me to "cut my curly hair a certain way to make it less 'poofy'." Before doing anything like this I thought it would be best to ask here first, since you're not making any money by my making use of your services. Should I be cutting my hair at all? I really want to let my hair grow longer because (at least what I've seen so far) I'm probably going to hate my curly hair a lot less when it gets even longer. Right now it has reached 4.5 inches and these are the longest hairs at the top of my head and stick out the least. I'd like to post my portrait but I don't have one yet. Please advise on this and other advice you may have.
Thanks

What does the word 'poofy' mean in the US ??
My (UK) dictionary says "informal, derogatory term for an effeminate or homosexual man".

Poofy, in the US, translates as Puffed-up (like a soufle). Though a co-worker of mine used to do her imitation of J-Lo being intimate with Puff Daddy (P. Diddy..now Sean Combs) as "Ay Poofy!"
Length is the only good solution to this problem, and whatever your stylist friends might say, cutting it isn't going to improve the length.
Your original instinct is right. Wait and let time provide the answer.
