As you all know, when you're growing your hair out you measure your progress by small occurrences and comments most people wouldn't think twice about, but they're absolutely thrilling to you.
While cater-waitering tonight I had two things happen to make me think: "Hey, I'm almost a longhair!" First of all, the owner of the catering shop told me my hair is borderline needing to be pulled back into a ponytail. Some people would be offended, but I was quite excited and saw it as an excuse to try to wear a ponytail next time I work for them. Then one of the guests asked me if I'm a Mavericks fan. I racked my brain trying to think of the song they sing...then he said "The Dallas Mavericks" and saved me from making a total dork of myself. I played it off and he told me I look like Steve Nash. I had no idea who that was, so when I got home I immediately looked him up. Hey, I'll take the compliment! He and I do have about the same hair.
Just had to share. Have a great holiday weekend!
Jeremy
Yeah, I know exactly what you mean.
For me the tell tale sign that I was becoming a longhair was realising I couldn't tilt my head up of the pillow one morning because I was lying on my hair. Ouch!
Or when I was cleaning my teeth and noticed that I'd gotten toothpaste on my hair.
And worst of all when one of mates started laughing at me because he'd caught me subconsciously chewing one of my bangs. (What was I thinking!)
Hey Jeremy-
I would take that as a very great compliment myself. Sounds like you are nearing the "Big-Time" when it comes to Long Hair............and yes, every change along the way for a true Longhair IS thrilling!
When all the hard stuff is out of the way in growing it out it becomes a breeze (for most) to deal with. Funny thing: Your goal may be such and such. But when you reach it, suddenly don't be surprised if you desire to let it grow longer.
Always nice to hear a happy story such as yours. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Thanks for the notes, Justin and Sorted. And you're correct about goal length, Justin. When I started I only planned on going to my shoulders, but now that it's nearly there I've extended my goal to about mid-shoulderblade. Will I end up going even longer? Perhaps.
Cheers,
Jeremy
