Hey guys. I was just wondering if it's normal for the hair to gradually thin out at the ends as it grows? This seems to be the case for me anyway, more noticable with the bangs. They're not horribly thin, in fact it's not too bad, but i was just wondering what you guys do when the hair starts to get thinner as it grows. Do you get trims to make the hair thicker - even though this inevitably lose's length?
I'm just interested because I want nice thick bangs/hair at the front. I don't mean thick as in thick hair strands, just as in the amount of hair at the same length giving a fuller thick appearance. I'm know know what i mean:p
Anyway, any tips/advice about if the hair gets slightly thinner as it grows and if trims would be the solution (seems like the only solution to me) would be much appreciated! Thanks
Perfectly normal. What you're seeing is the fact that not all hairs grow at exactly the same rate, therefore they develop slightly different lengths over time. You'll find that many longhairs prefer this over blunt cut ends.
For more information, see the thread below started by Gollan a few days ago "Cut or Natural Ends?"
Yeah - perfectly normal, just to add to that, You'll get fuller ends if you have them trimmed in a blunt cut. You only notice the ends "thinning" as you grow out because as Spodman says, each hair focile grows at a slightly different rate and these difference show more over time. This coupled with the fact that the ends are less vissible when they are cut closer to your head.
So Largely its just a matter of "noticing it more."
Thanks alot guys for clearing that up! Just another question though, in regards to a blunt cut, what exaclty is it...just the ends cut bluntly - is it cut differently from just a normal cut?

Just the ends cut "blunt"... Er.. I guess what most people would consider "normal", you comb the hair down and cut straight.
even if they did grow at the same rate you'd still see some thinning over time as individual strands reach the end of their growth stage, fall out, and get replaced by new hair. if hairs were not on differing growth cycles our entire mane would reach terminal state at once and our hair shed probably leaving us looking a bit like cancer patients every few years.
