Hey!
Just wondered if anyone's heading to see Metallica this year - they're playing Dublin in 25 days and I'm soo excited. I've seen them every time they've come here and I love the atmosphere in the crowd.
Don't think my hair's quite going to be the length I wanted for the concert so I'll probably just hide it under a hat or bandana.
Metallica is a great band. They were here in Finland some days ago. Unfortunately I couldn't go to see them because the distance was too long. I'd had to travel across the country :/
I'm not a fan of Metallica, most songs are too slow for my likeing. But about a few weeks ago when I went to my friends Thrash Metal Gig, they tour with a second band, Rapid Cell Destruction. They covered a lot of Metallica, and I was really taken back by how good they are when live. The Cd's aren't good IMO but when hearing it live, you can really appreciate the bass and beat, plus they played songs about twice as fast:)Wolfeyes, you can still headbang with your hair length, you're going to be one of many thousands there, so why care, and if you have any curls flips, straighten them and it will be pretty cool. Have fun :)
I just saw Metallica with Godsmack in Little Rock, AR, two weeks ago, this was my ninth time seeing Metallica. I'm not a big fan of much they've done since the black album, apparently they realize most people aren't. They played almost 3 hours, as typical, and only two songs from St. Anger, and two from Load or Reload, everything else older. They did go out of they're way to play some older songs that they haven't in a while, which was cool, but there was a price. Most of the old mainstains were there, except for two that I really missed (I'll tell you which ones if you like, just didn't want to spoil any surprise).
By the way, that was the first concert I've been to in about 6 months, and it was great to have enough hair to whip around headbanging that I could really feel it!
If you want more details on the concert, just ask, or email if you like, since this could get a bit off topic.

You live in Little Rock? So do I! :p it's a small world... after all. I'm surprised they came here...
Actually, I live in Nashville, but for obvious reasons, I get out of here a lot on weekends, Texarkana, Hot Springs, Little Rock, basically anywhere else.
I saw metallica at the end of march here in Alberta.
...giving them my money. when i heard they were coming nearby, i considered it for maybe a second, then decided i just couldn't give money to those stupid bastards. granted, i love their old stuff, but their newer music and attitudes towards fans, etc., is horrible. i don't see how the same band that made "kill 'em all" made "st. anger"... god, i want to puke just thinking about it.
No thanks. I'll pass. One of the most overrated bands of all time.
I agree.
The band I mentioned in my post, Rapid Cell destruction, cover old material of Metallica. Old stuff isn't bad, but I tend to like thrash/speed metal, and Metallica definately isn't thrash metal.
Indeed they are not. Two years ago when I was just getting into harder rock, I was into Metallica. I still actually like S&M, but that's it. But I tend to like bands that are very complex, technical, and talented. Metallica holds no ground to many bands with day jobs. That should tell them something.
I would agree with you there - they're certainly not the most technical band in the world. I guess they rely heavily on power riffs and james's voice.
Bands like Incubus on the other hand are very technical, creative, and have great lyrics... I still have a special place in my heart for Metallica though, and though I don't listen to them as much as I used to, I'll still be singing my heart out in the crowd.
Ugh Metallica. One of the most overrated and worst bands of all times. They had a few decent stuff in the 80's. To Live Is To Die is my favorite song by them because its a catchy tune with a solid riff and maybe about 4 lines of lyrics. The One is only good in the acoustic part in the beginning. When it becomes heavy the song gets ruined. Master Of Puppets is great until the interlude which is like 3 minutes into the song. After ...And Justice For All everything else is crap.
Geez I cant believe people credit these guys for creating thrash metal. These guys destroyed thrash and created trash.
Celtic Frost are the true innovators of music. Back in '82 under the name Hellhammer these dudes invented thrash, death, and black all in one day...
Oh.. just FYI 'The One' is a film... 'One' is the song ;)
I didn't see the show here in Denmark, last week, but I saw them at Roskilde Festival last year. They're not my favourite band, but they're pretty cool live!
The setlist was good, nothing from load/reload, two from St. Anger and a lot of oldies but goodies!
