Ive been noticing that after taking a shower I get these tiny knots usually on 1 or 2 strands of hair. I dont towel dry my hair I just sorta shake it around and wait till it dries. Is it bad for me to be ripping these tiny knots off?
Im more then certain its bad to rip them off and cutting would probably be a better solutions. I myself mostly find them when my hair is dry and I to admit to sometimes tearing them off.
Actually, I bite them off. [gasp!] I hope that is okay. [grin]

Knots in the hair = good thing :)
Sweet, I didn't realize there was a fellow dreadhead on the board!
Former dreadhead, that is!
I decided I'd rather have regular long hair. Also, there was starting to be a substantial amount of loose hair, so I figured I'd just start all over.
I saw Rob Zombie featured on "I love the 80's Strikes Back" on Vh1. The guy's hair no longer is dreadlocked, yet it is past his shoulders. I saw him interviewed on MTV about 6 months ago. How did he do this?
It's not impossible to go from dreads to normal hair.
A girl from my class did it, used lots of oliveoil, and worked manually on all the hairs.
Sure........you are ripping out valuable hair.
Try this and see if it works for you:
After washing and Conditioning "pat" the hair a bit dryer with a towel. Wait about 20 minutes and with your fingers go through your hair until you find a tangle. Gently work at it until it frees itself. Then go through the hair with a WIDE Bristle Brush. If it snarls, try with your fingers to seperate it. Finally use a comb, (Wide end) and comb all out and then go to the short end. Use a detangler if need be. Good luck.
Mine develops these tiny knots all the time I try and separate them best I can with my fingers. Sometimes I end up breaking the hairs but normally I can manage to get most of tangles out.
To be honest I try to avoid aggressively toweling my hair dry as it only makes the tangles worse. Infact I try to detangle before my hair is dry. Generally I find the best way of avoding knots is to:
- Use plenty of conditioner
- Squeeze the majority of the water out of your hair. Or pat lightly with a towel
- Finger rake the major tangles out as soon as you get out the shower
- And gently comb through with a wide toothed comb.
- Avoid breaking the hairs that get tangled.
Hope that helps
