My hair is at the 7th month stage of growth and I can generally keep it neat anywhere but the back. My hair then goes from straight to a wave to a curl. Do you have any method about what to do with my hair until its long enough for a ponytail.
Unfortunately there is not much you can do, I have the exact same problem, I just let it do what it wants to, certain products, ie gel, helps control my hair but too much makes it look stiff, I have this puffiness I bet straight haired people are after. (at least that what Id like to believe)
What I also did was forget what other people think, cause it was usually why I was so self-conscious about it.

My sugestion is to use an alice band have you ever heard of them. It is like a hair band but goes all the way round your head it can look very masculin. Like David Becham he used to ware one.
Yeah, but he looks so masculine naturally that you could probably weave bows and ribbons into his hair and he would still look masculine. : )

We almost all suffer with the same problem. There's not a lot you can do cos its caused by your hair at the back pushing against your collar, shoulders and neck. :-(
There are two solutions:
1) Grow through it, your hair will stop kicking and curving just as soon as its a couple of inches past your shoulders. It takes patience and you'll probably be frustrated for the next 6-12 months.
2) Trim the back up removing the layers, so the hair isn't pressing against your neck and shoulders. Once the top layers catch up then they'll be enough weight in your hair to let your hair grow over your shoulders without kicking out.
No real easy way out I'm afraid.

Use a non-alcohol product or leave it be until the flip grows out.
I just try to get it to behave because I go to a temp service for work and Women work there. So I don't want to go looking like a slob, would never get a job.
