i have obtained a ceramic flat iron, and wondering how to use it... it didn't come with instructions! i've never seen one of these in use, so i'm unsure of how to go about doing it...especially the back of my head. any advice or tips would be greatly appreciated.
dF,
how you use it somewhat depends on the length of your hair...mine is just above shoulder length... i section my hair off into about 4 sections...starting in the back and working my way forward, the first section i work with would be from the neckline UP about two inches, all across the neck area...(while i work with this section, the rest of my hair is pulled back and out of the way into a ponytail) after allowing the flatiron to heat up, i then simply run that back section of hair through the iron...you clamp the hair down starting at the root, and work your way to the ends...after that first section is done, move on to the next section...you go back to the ponytail, pull out another section of about two inches, and do the same thing until your whole head is straight.
it *is* kinda difficult to explain this in words...just make sure you do not le tthe flatiron rest in yoru hair for any time...it can break and damage your hair if used improperly.
good luck!

Uh oh... I think I've been doing it wrong!
I've only ever done it twice, hope I haven't caused damage, and I used plenty of conditioner before and the day after when I washed it.
I'll learn from my mistakes lol.
Basically you just take one section of hair at a time, clamp the iron at the roots and run it down to the ends. The most important thing to remember is to keep the iron moving. If you hold it still on one section of hair it will burn! You might have to go over the same bit of hair two of three times to get the desired effect. If you're doing it right it shouldn't take more than five minutes to do your whole head.
Hi i also have a straightning iron, i would say it depends on the length of your hair but my tips are:
1. allways throughtly comb your hair before using the iron.
2. dont use it near your head be very carfull i burnt my self on mine it really hurt!!
3. dont leave the iron on a clump of hair
4. well that i do is use clips to seperate the hair so it is easer.
5. start at the roots of your hair ( be carefull ) and then work down, clamping the hair in the iron and pulling downwards.
Good luck
