Its funny, I only just realised this today. (Obviously I'm incredibly slow.)
The best thing about growing your hair out is that Every new day your hair just a little bit longer than it was was the day before...
Its no wonder this hair growing lark is so addictive.

I think the best thing about growing my hair now, is that (since I don't obsess about the *length* of it anymore) you don't have to get haircuts!
When I had shorthair I was the type that like to keep it cut often, so I'd have to get a haircut every two months at max. That can be a big hit on your wallet and time.
The 10 best things about growing hair out long (when I get there) is....
1.When I headbang, It will look awesome and I will actually have something to headbang with.
2.Chicks dig long hair (most)
3.I will feel like a total different person (I'm starting to feel a change already)
4.No dreading the barber for me! (That is as long as he leaves my mane alone, otherwise he's a deadman)
5.Save a lot of money from haircuts.
6.Take plenty of care with it and it will make women jelous!
7.Warmer in the winter.
8.Guys respect you for it.
9.Sometimes you can put on a real f*** off attitude and feel great:p
10.Makes under 20's look older, and makes over 30's look younger. Forget anti-age-fight-back-against-wrinkle-cream-because-you-got-a-face-like-a-smacked-arse, grow your hair instead! Then you dont have to spend money on crap like that:)

Ohh do I know something about this. 6 years ago when I was 14 I had about shoulder length hair, but I was too dumb to think this was why chicks were very interested in me. I was a geek who were thick glasses, I didn't even take care of it hardly combed it. Well I had chicks asking me out all the time. Most would come up to me and say that I needed it cut, but when I did cut it they didn't like the new me and I was ignored by chicks in High School. Now that I'm out of High School I realised why chicks were coming on to me. I must have had at least 10 chicks ask me out but I wasn't interested, in Girls or for that Matter guys then, just in case someone wants to imply that I'm gay. Guys if you take care of your Hair and Grow it long Most Girls will go for you because, Finding a guy with long hair who takes care of it is Very Hard for a girl. This doesn't mean don't take care of the rest of your body but if you have long hair that is the first thing Girls, will notice the second is how you take care of it.

You're good with computers. How about this as an idea...
Create a digital countdown where you enter the length of your hair in inches (as a decimal) and the program (with respect to time/hair growth relationship) will show your continuous growth. Even if it's just the ten-thousanth's place moving. It would be kind of a neat screensaver or at least a better clock to watch. Kind of like the things they have at zoos showing the continuous decrease of rainforest acres.
The best thing about growing your hair is that it's the only part of your body you can change at will :D
Also you can look cool when the wind is blowing at you (not against you).
