Anyone used the Redken Smooth Down shampoo and such?
I have been using the shampoo, the conditioner and the Butter Treat for awhile now and it does seem to do quite well for my hair. The shampoo doesn't smell that great but the products do seem to be very good and I don't seem to require any gel after rinsing these products.
Yes I use Redken Smooth Down and it is the best Shampoo I have used so far. Shame it's so expensive.
You may need to use a clarifyer more often with this one as its totally loaded with cones and waxes which will buildup. But I must admit im dying to try it!! I've just ordered nexxus ensure which is an acidifying conditioner which may work similar but without the cone overload - its ph 3 so it hardens the protiens in the hair and closes the hair shaft making it smooth and detangled.... I do occassionally use all soft cond (btw all soft heavy cream is better than the smooth down intensive cond) but I think its so heavy it irritates my scalp : ( but i trying to get away from using products with the wrong ph anyway....
Do you mean the Smooth Down Line Or RedKen Products in General? Cos from what I've seen their all full of cones and waxes? Much like every other brand, I still have to wash & condition every 2 days to stop my hair from feeling like crap.
i meant particularly the smooth down line, thats how it smooths your hair by coating it in waxes and silicones. I know nearly all poo's do the same but this one will coat more to achieve its result.
This seems to be the case with all 'smooth' or 'sleek' shampoos, mind you, you need a degree in chemistry to figure out what half the ingredients in any shampoo actually do.
Yeah - I use Redken Smooth Down Shampoo and Conditioner, but not the butter treat. It keeps my hair in pretty good nick, and if you ask me, the Smooth Down Shampoo & Conditioner smell great, the macadamia oil is brilliant.
It separates my hair very well, a little too much though that I can get easily windswept, so I'm trying to find a leave in conditioner from their range which I'm happy with, but I don't fancy the sound of the butter treat.
It gets my vote anyway and their web site is really informative.
Sorted
Yeah, I have been using both Smooth Down for some time - Also been using the Smooth Down Heat Glide occasionally with it. I have mixed wavy hair and this product seems to prevent alot of the tangles I get, especially at the nape during the day, and after shower comb out goes really easy. But, like the others have said, it will build up after a while.
Lately, I have been alternating the Smooth Down with TIGI Bedhead Dumb Blonde shampoo and conditioner(not impressed with TIGI - they seem to have changed their formulas in the past year - cost redction?? and it really dries out my hair if used regularly) - as a clarifyer and Redken All Soft (also really nice stuff) (also builds up). By alternating, I don't seem to get any horrific build-up.
