Okay, before you all start throwing things at me (lol), here's why:
1) It has stopped growing, well short of the length I want (and need, to keep it weighed down).
2) The only way I can wear my hair during the day and have it look reasonable is by applying both gel (over the scalp) and oil (on the rest), then tying it back in a pony tail with two hair bands. I hate doing this, having to restrain my hair so tightly, plus I don't think it looks great on me, but there's no other way without it going everywhere, especially for work.
3) I've realised that I'm never going to have the type of hair I want anyway. Even if it were longer, anything other than thin, straight hair won't look good, because I have a rather thin build, and that combined with huge hair would just look stupid. Straightening in any way does not work, my hair's too thick and unruly.
4) My hair is not the nicest, it will never have a sleek, shiny look to it, no matter which products I use, it will always look coarse and rough, even if it doesn't feel like it.
5) I have a lot of short hair coming through, which creates a fuzzy layer underneath, and if that all grows out I don't think all the gel in the world can save me (lol).
So there you have it. One thing I promise is that I won't get anything conventional, like a caesar cut, buzzcut, or the standard 'tapering' cut. Might go for the Karajan look, it would suit my face.
Anyway, I wish you all the very best in achieving your hair goals.
Cheers,
Tomas
hey, sorry it's not working out for you man
But before you give it the big chop, try dreadlocks for a couple of weeks. I realized that I had to stop fighting the frizziness and tangles, and now I am at total peace with my hair!
ThatBallGuy--
I remember seeing several pictures of your hair before you had dreadlocks. And, I have to admit that I don't really know what dreadlocks even are other than the fact that your hair looks different. Could somebody fill me in on this?
Thanks
I'd love to!
Dreadlocks are basically ropes of extremely knotted hair.
If a person never combed or brushed their hair, it would all mat up and be pretty nappy. But if you take sections of hair, and comb backwards towards the roots (a bit gently) it will tangle up the hair, and it will hold that shape while it actually knots up and becomes a "real" dreadlock. Some people use pomades or beeswax to help hold the locks together while they are maturing, but I prefer to go plain for the most part.
You can find more info at www.dreadheadhq.com and www.knottyboy.com though they both are a bit biased towards the use of wax!

I would if I wasn't working in a corporate environment, I'd get those mini dreads, they look cool.
Fair enough Tomas, long hair isn't for everyone and some hair types are just not suited to been long inspite of what the wearer wants. (If only there were hair transplants, lol, I'd swap with Jenny Aniston *grin*)
I'm sorry you didn't reach your goal but you sound like you'll be happier without it. And at least you gave it a go. :-)
Have you got a pic, mybe we can give you advice, maybe you really don't need to cut it at all!
And as That Ball Guy said earlier, if you really feel you don't like long hair, at least try it in dreads before you chop it off, what have you got to lose, I would!
Hi Tomas, if you are cutting your hair why not try some funny stuff with it first, it'd be good for the photo albums :)
