My girlfriend, after months of pleading, cajoling, etc., finally got me to let her set my hair in her hot rollers. {My hair's just off my shoulders, all one length.} Not surprisingly, she loved the result. Surprisingly, so did I, and she's donemy hair on rollers the last two times we've been out. So now she wants to roll it regularly, to get me my own set of rollers, to drag me to her hairdresser to have it set at the salon, and so on. I'm pretty open-minded -- not to mention vain about my hair -- so I'm not totallly opposed. But I do have some qualms {is makeup and nail polish next?}, so I'd love to hear from anyone who has used/uses rollers, any suggestions for using them for a not-too-femme style, and so on.
Do you have pictures, like before and after, to show the results from the rollers? I've used large velcro rollers with a blow dryer and straightening balm to straighten my fine, wavy hair. In a previous message a hair stylist suggested that for hair which would easily be damaged by a straightening iron, and it seems to work well for me. The hair comes out just about straight, but curls under a little at the ends. I don't think it looks feminine, just a nicer, more groomed look for my hair.
Make or nail polish? Only if you want it. But it might be fun to try.
Just remember that, like any heat-styling device, hot rollers can eventually damage hair.
Yea, I was expecting Hair religion to warn us of the dangers as he usually does when it comes to straightening and perming, where has he gone:s
I had my first salon set at 16. After that I was hooked.
It is so much fun to try different styles.
I would love to hear how you have your hair styled.

Dont worry about it. I've had many a roller sets over the years. They give my hair nice body with some curl. The finished
style is totally dependant on the combout. just opt out for the teased bouffant look and u will be ok. And dont worry about going to the salon. If your g/f drags u there u shouldnt feel too out of place. Also a wet set on magnetic rollers can't be beat. If u like your hair after set on electric rollers, u'll love your hair after set on magnetics anc combed out. I'd highly recommend the salon set. So, have fun and tell us all about it when your done.

Taking the plunge this weekend -- we're getting his 'n hers roller sets from her hairstylist. She {the stylist} is pretty cool and it's a funky downtown salon so I'm not too worried about getting reactions. I'll let you know how it goes........
