I am sorry this is blatantly off topic but I feel it important to simply state for the sake of saying it that we must, in times of death, remember those who have gone before us and try always to shed a tear for the fallen. It is quite unfortunate but death is inevitable. We wish to continue living and in Heaven we shall but with life on Earth we are with the ones we love in physical ways and must wait a long time for them to join in Heaven. But nonetheless, the death we all know will arrive has allready come for three people in the recent days of now. First, on May 31st, Alberta Martin, the last living Civil War veteran's widow, passed away peaceably. She currently finishes her time of laying in State in the former Confederate White House and will be burried in her native Alabama. She was ninety four. Then, as we all know, came Ronald Reagan. Our best president, perhaps, and the kind of man we all wished to know. He was friendly, outgoing, funny and believed in the American people. He was a great man and a great president, bringing the Commies down to their knees. As Edwin Stanton said, upon the death of President Lincoln, "He is with the ages now." Others heard it to be, "He is with the Angels now." But lastly, Ray Charles, one of the most beloved Blues singers we have ever known, passed away not long ago at seventy three. He overcame blindness, death of loved ones, many things and yet the liver disease he had he could not overcome and he is in Heaven. We must all try to remember these people and pray God will accept them into Heaven and comfort their families. Though, should God's light not shine within you and you find yourself believing another religion or none at all then we must do the bare minimum and simply remember and whatnot. May God bless us all and may God bless America (Or Buddha or Shivnu or whoever)
Also Tomas Forsberg aka Quorthon the mastermind behind his black metal project Bathory passed away on Monday. He was found dead of an apparent heart failure. He was only 39 years old. A very talented man who played every single instrument on his albums and who's countless contributions to music will never be forgotten...
No way, that sucks. Did he have a heart condition or was it from drug use? If it was drugs then maybe some of that came from the drugs that the Reagan administration allowed to be sold on our streets to pay for guns for wars in other countries.
here here a very said loss to the black metal world indeed.
Where Where ?
Not the kind of man I wished to know, thank you very much.
If Reagan was your BEST president, I dread to think what some of the others must have been like !!
No Indeed, and just a matter of point, he didn't bring the "commies to their knees", they brought themselves to their knees. The only input America had in that was continuously upping the ante in the arms race, thus contributing to the poliferation of weapons of mass destruction.
(hmm didn't we just go to war over someone we "thought" was doing just that?)
George W Bush? Arguably (sp) much worse.
Remember that episode of the Simpsons where a statue of President Carter is unveiled and someone shouts "It's History's Greatest Monster" !!
No, I don't! And thanks for informing me that I haven't seen all episodes (runs of crying...)
Sorry to contradict you, but God is for everyone and not just Americans.
The same way, every person on this earth is human, whether they`re american or iraqi.
And finally, no one escapes death, we just must accept it.
And this means that we (young ones) are no better than old people who have one foot in the grave, because no one knows when he`s gonna die.
As Jesus(p) said: "No one knows the hour, save God only"
Sir, I in no way meant to say God is only for Americans. Infact I don't believe saying anything that could be percieved as saying that save for "God bless America" and that's just religious patriotism.
How long ago was that? If she just died at 94 she would have been born 45 years after the civil war. Perhaps her husband was a drummer boy and she married him when he was an old man?
My vote is for Lincoln
Granted he had those qualities in abundance. Not much grasp of economics, though.
He might be creditted with that, just as any president who presided over an economic boom might get the credit, rightly or wrongly
A great musician indeed
I am sorry but I meant to say Alberta Martin was 97. When she was 21 she married an 81 year old Civil War veteran. Eight years later he died and she remarried. Her husband was not just a drummer boy but was out there with the boys and the most he usually told her of the war was how hungry everybody always was and how he'd often spend all night searching a field for a potato that may have been left behind or something. That is a true illustration of how it was for the Confederates. Very hungry indeed. And many of them, unfortunately, would often shave their head as the lice became severely problematic. Though you still had a few guys with some hair, others with alot of hair and a few guys with just plain long hair. Custer didn't cut his hair all 4 years.
Actually, that's quite fascinating. I figured that there was a huge age mismatch, though. You just have to do the numbers.
Best president? Where's the "bada bing"?
