Well, there's a scripture verse that says "for everything there is a season. . ." Well, there was a time for dreadlocks and there's a time for normal hair. . . .before you start thinking anything, NO I did NOT cut my hair, but I did take 5 hours and work the locks loose. There were many factors, but in all it came down to the fact that I Missed my curly hair. I mean, I like dreadlocks, and in a way I miss them too, but I really enjoy curly hair more than dreadlocks. I do not regret having locked up, and I'm thankful that I was able to undo them before they got REALLY locked up.
There was almost no damage done, but I did get a shock at how much hair came out. Then I realized that I had not been shedding my normal 150 (appx) hairs a day due to the fact they were stuck in dreadlocks, multiply by a month!
Anyways, I'm back to the old look you are familiar with here, though I must say i've grown a lot during the last month. My hair has grown quite a bit too, more than it's normal .5-.6" per month!
Anyways, I just figured you'd like to know that the "old" "Ball" Guy is back again!
That "Ball" Guy
How did you manage to get the locks undone?
I soaked my head in conditioner, then starting one lock at a time, gently pulled them apart, combing out about 1/16" at a time.
You... are a patient man.
I like the non-dreaded "Ball Guy" better. :-D
I have to admit, I like the curls better than the dreads. Perhaps it's just what I'm more comfortable with. In any case, it was a brave move on your part and, as you said, you've grown from it.
BTW, I've put the scripture reference below for your review. It's from Ecclesiastes 3.
ToddB (not brave enough for dreads...)
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace.
Oh yeah,
I like your right angle triangle stealthly placed in your photo. Pythagorous (sp?) would be proud.
Another math nerd. I'm not alone (although my girlfriend tell's me that math isn't as important as I say it is. :-)

Yeah, I was showing a friend a proof of the pythagorean theorem last semester, and just never erased it all off my board, lol.
Looks really good. Fun to be able to change like that, huh? I dig both looks...glad it worked out!
Me too! I actually started with just one lock, and if it wouldn't come out I was just going to keep them all rather than cut them.
that's unfortunate, but i guess you made the right decision!

Unfortunate? Nah, I had a great time with it and learned and grew a lot throughout the process. On top of that I get to keep my length instead of having to cut the dreads off. In my book that's very fortunate! : )
THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! As you know, dreads are not very attractive in my eyes. I'm glad you went back to the curly look of longer hair. That looks so much better on you.... but that's just my humble opinion. Keep it growin!
eric
lol, no problem!
My mom made the comment "You look so much more intelligent now" (right after I was through undreading it).
Your hair looks great, especially those wet hair photos. I admire your patience and tenacity to spend 5 hours to undo the dreads, most people would probably have given up and cut them off. Think of the past month as a chance to learn and grow from the experience. Best wishes. Absalom
You know, when your hair gets really long, since it is so curly it will look very dense, and full, something I wish I had since mine is so straight, it doesn't look as bulky.
I think it looks better, although It didn't bother me either way.
And I thought I had it bad when my hair gets a little tangled.
I think your natural look shows off your great hair much better.
i think that wordage funny
if he let his hair alone i'm sure those curls would grow back into dreadlocks!

The dreads were fun, but I think the curly look is much better on you! I wish my curls would look that great!
Cheers,
Jeremy
Well, I wasn't going to say it, but... ummm...
Sideshow Bob belongs in prison. :)
to be able to get those out :-O
Well, I knew that pretty soon it'd be impossible to get them out, and I figured I'd better strike while the iron is hot. I look at it this way, I could always go and put my hair in dreadlocks later on, but I may not always be able to take them out.
I'm thankful that I was able to undo them before they got REALLY locked up.
Welcome back. I think you looked great w/ or w/o. I just did some dreads on a friends this past weekend. I think they look awful on him, but he wanted to try them for the summer. Soccer player oops,,Futbol.
