Way to go, Vincent! Your hair looks very healthy. You've kept good humor throughout an often-frustrating process and the reward has been great!
Cheers,
Jeremy
Vincent,
Great site...love the layout. Also loved the line: "how your hair looks doesn't define you. Just let it grow and think about other things."
Couldn't have said it better myself! Hair looks great, man!
Keep it growin'!
Brett
thanks a lot
i enjoyed watching your pictures too!!!

You have a very healthy head of hair. I think the before & after shots show that with a growing beard & surrounding crown of hair, you now display a different, cool-dude image.
Are people who haven't seen you in over a yr to two yrs ever surprised when they run into you, or not even recognize you?
When you say long hair is good for someone who likes dancing, do you mean you now can be like a head banging rocker with hair flying everywhere?
Do you ever run a comb through your hair, and why do you choose to wash it with hand soap instead of shampoo?
Yeah, especially since i never had hair longer than the first picture before that... Most simply do not recongize me except if i'm with other people that, hmm, lead to me in their minds!
Hmm, not really. it's more of a lateral movement which does send hair flying everywhere though!
no, i let my hair do as it wants
commercial shampoo is full if junk i do not want on my head, while i have good natural healthy clean nice barsoap.

Vincent, do you normally wear your hair down or tied up in that do-rag? And are you going to also keep growing your facial hair too (btw, I think your changed appearance gives you some pizzaz & energy). Also, do you have an SO? If so, does she ever think your hair should be tidied up a bit, or do you ever worry that such a person or others may think your hairstyle is too reminiscent of a drifter or a free spirit hippie (in terms of cleanliness and scent)?
I normally wear it down, but will tie it up if it's more practical. For example if i'm washing the dishes, reading or doing other things that require me to look down, it is more comfortable if it's tied up.
Yeah, but I haven't really thought about it. I know i will probably never cut my hair again, but i may cut off some length off my beard from time to time. Or maybe not, I haven't yet.
I think it's the other way around, but thanks :)
Yeah, I have a wonderful girlfriend, and she never said anything like this, i know she likes my hair :)
If it keeps such people far from me, well, i think that's good. I do not want those superficial, artificial man or woman near me.
take care

Never?! What kind of career are you in, or what kind of job opportunities do you see yourself taking advantage of in the future? I ask because very long hair on guys still is uncommon in many places of work I've been in or experienced, outside of those settings where people are self employed or are doing very creative, artsy type of jobs.
Did she know you when you wore it short? If so, did she nod in approval when you decided to grow it out, and give you kudos as it grew longer?
If i have a "career", i'm a programmer specialised in security. And yes, I know very long natural dreadlocks will not allow me to work at some places. But i wouldn't want to work there anyway.
However, my wish ould be to be in those "settings where people are self employed or are doing very creative, artsy type of jobs.". Or just growing my own veggies in a quiet farm...
No, she didn't know me with short hair. She saw a picture and didn't really recognize me :)

Dear Vincent,
I wouldn't have mistaken you for a drifter. I think long hair definitely conveys a certain attitude, a positive one at that. A few years back, when I had long hair guys in cars would think I was a chick and would check me out, to see if I had a chest. I guess growing a beard eliminates that ambiguity a bit, but I don't care, I shouldn't have had those hang-ups.
It makes me think of that old Bobby Goldboro song with the lyrics: 'I'm a drifter and I feel the pain...the pain that comes from loneliness...so I move from town to town...' What was that title?
Cheers dude, Andrew
Wait so you get that cool look out of not combing it?! What about when you shower, wont running your hands through the hair be the same as combing? Also what bar soap do you use, is it good for the hair? Your hair is awesome!!!
...And not putting harmful chemicals in them, and not stressing over them... :)
I do not know if it looks cool, but it looks that way! :)
Actually, washing my hair tangles it more (doesn't it do that for everybody?)!
The movement made by rubbing the soap create more knots
Yes, it is good for the hair. I do not notice any sign of breakage and I know that I do not put harmful crap on my head!
Thanks :-)
happy growing!

oops i didn't reply to that one
it is a soap made by a local (quebec) shop, called "L'olivier". There are probably plenty of natural soap makers in your area. Otherwise you can order from http://www.enchantedsoapworks.com, I've heard very good comments about her soaps!

Awesome look, especially with the beard, nice transformation from the first pictures.
Damn, dude, you got some hair! Mine's right behind your, man, and thanks to something you wrote a month or so ago, I don't give a shit now what mine looks like most of the time either. I'm happier and since I don't spend much time in front of the mirror, hell, what people see is what they get man! Thanks for the inspiration and thanks for posting the latest. I don't have the facial hair yet, still shaving, but I think that's going to end pretty soon as well and maybe within a month, dude, I'll have some scruffy shit on my face. All this hair drives my short haired friends crazy. Yours too? Josh (in Denver)
Yeah, i got some of it somewhere on my head i think.. ;)
I am very glad you chose to go that route, lots more time to do fun stuff :-)
Even long haired people are confused by the amount of hair on my head :) (it's even "worse" than it appears on pictures ;)
Take care, and keep flowing with life!

Your hair looks really good, as does your beard. It's great that you're never going to cut your hair again. The longer, the better.
Your hair looks great and it will look awesome when it gets really long. Absalom
Dear Vincent,
Hi dude! I'm in Australia. Loved the long hair, it gives me inspiration to continue to grow mine! Mmm, I agree that a lot of product is no good, often too harsh. I try to use small amounts.
You're in the US or Canada?
Feel free to email me at cariesfreedom@yahoo.com.au
Thanks man, Andrew .
good :)
i'm in canada (quebec)
well, just write to me if you want to talk to me :)
take care

Thanks for replying, Vincent. I'm in Victoria, Australia. I know Quebec is a province. Lot's of longhairs in Canada?
From your pics, I think I have similar hair: it's brown and thick. It's not fine hair like, say, Ozzy Osborne's is or something.
So what do you use on it? I had long hair from 1998-02. I recall how difficult it was in bed with it. God, you really miss it initially when it gets cut off! You feel for it and it's not there.
the number of responses on this site really amazes me. I think guys are better at growing long hair than many women. I had looks from chicks that seemed envious of the hair, while I received looks from guys who were trying to determine if I was a female! Quite embarrassing, actually!
Well, you made it through the awkward stage and it's long. Congratulations, Vincent!
Cheers, Andrew from Melbourne.
