I understand that you Muslim, like myself. I was just wondering what your parents views on your long hair are.
I dont know your ethnic background but in mine long hair is frowned upon, its more of a cultural thing. My parents are old fashioned so long hair for men is a big no - even though im sure Islam has nothing against it.
Peace upon you man,
Yeah, I understand what you mean too about the cultural thing. But that`s just wrong to put culture forward of religion. It`s criminal.
There hasn`t been anyone who has shown me an authentic hadith condemning or prohibiting long hair of whatever length on a man. No one has been able to do that. On the contrary we discover everyday that many hadiths were fabricated to suit the ends of various leaders of school of thought.
Some guys even tell you that in Islam you have to have blind faith and follow what your Imam tells you. That is wrong.
Islam tells you to verify everything in Quran. You can also trust hadiths to the extent where their authenticity is proven.
The Quran clearly says that one doesnt have the right to prohibit something which God has allowed, in the name of superstition, tradition.
That is why Muslims are being persecuted everywhere in the world man. Obscure tradtions have taken over basic Quranic teachings and God is punishing us for that.
So following that, does this mean that anything God allows to happen naturally cannot be prohibited by man?
EG: Hair Grows long naturally so one cannot prohibit long hair?
Sounds like a pretty good faith to me...
Yes, what God has allowed, no one can prohibit and that`s stated in the Quran. I can get the reference if you want.
Now you`ll ask me about nails, which are a natural thing which grow out just like hair. Well, we have some instruction form our Prophet that it`s a recommended thing to cut your nails short. But as for hair, he never said EXPLICITLY to cut it.
One thing he mentioned was to keep it nice and tidy, I mean not to have dishevelled dirty hair.
