I'm a new long-hair...still growing. I got a trim today and my stylist pulled my hair back in a ponytail (because of a few shorter strands here and there, it still requires a bit of gel), but it was so cool. It really looked nice and was a real relief from constantly pushing the hair behind my ears. I wore it all day, and it still looked "fresh" and neat when I got home! Exciting, and just what I needed to avoid the urge to cut!
Frankly, I like to wear the hair out. A pony-tail is just a way to see how the rest of the head would look like with short hair.
I like to wear my hair out as well. But I wouldn't generalise by saying that a pony-tail looks like short hair.
i like to were a ponytail most of the time i like the look
how long is everyons hair who ansewed this message mine is about 9 ins past my shoulders and i need a ponytail most of the time just to get my hair out of the way......at work sleeping eating
Well, my hair isn't quite that long (maybe a couple of inches below shoulder-length), but when I get up in the morning, the first think I look for is a hair tie or a clip to pull my mane out of harm's way, lest I dip it into my Cheerios. I enjoy screwing around with my hair, and am usually open to new ways of wearing it, but for an active person, the pony tail is simply the most *practical* way of dealing with long hair.
JP.
how long are you going to grow it
Mid back would be cool, but once it hit shoulder length, the growth rate *seemed* to really slow down. I don't know if that's a real phenomenon, or if it's just the result of trimming the split ends (which do become more of a problem as it gets longer).

i got several inches cut 2 months ago (last traces of a 'mullet') so anatomically mine is to about mid-back... if i pull it down in front it almost reaches my navel. my longest fallout hair after the cut was 22".
Mine is about midback length, though appears shorter due to the curly nature of my hair.
to me, a ponytail is just a way of restraining hair when at work, cooking, or eating.
VERY cool! I like the frizz factor!!
I like to let my hair loose too. But I tie it in a ponytail when it's too warm... or at the insistence of my parents when I go to visit them...
Not for me - when my hair is short it sticks out. I cannot get it
to lie flat when it's short. That's one of my motivations for growing
it long, so I can tie it into a ponytail and have the hair lie flat
against my head.
thats great now you can just grow it as long as you want its alot easyer when you just put it in a ponytail when ever you need to get it out of your way ....keep up the good work
I think ponytails are cool because if you have long hair you can wear it in a variety of styles rather than loose all the time. My fiance likes to where his hair in a variety of ponytails and he's gotten a lot of compliments on them. Also, when my hair gets hot or I'm doing something intense, I like to pull my hair up on top of my head. However, I still think it should be a matter of personal choice.
