I don't know why I was banned from not only their forum but website too. My 2 weeks posting in that forum my post,. have been nothing short of postive posts.
I haven't made any negative posts for a month and I was banned 3 days ago,
Anybody from LHC know why I was banned. This is really bumming me out, I'm starting to take it personal.
My username was kengibson2001
I don't know what *you* did but I dropped out of TLHC a couple of months ago due to due to a number of sickening anti-male posts and an indifferent moderating staff (males were generalized as 'perverts', 'one handed typists', and stalkers). The fact is that The Men's Longhair Hyperboard is a dignified and friendly community of like-minded gentlemen and ladies. We have a lot of long hair care knowledge distributed across our membership. I've lately been redoubling my efforts to support this community. Other (female-oriented) long hair care sites are still useful for information but I don't feel right lurking and soaking up information without participating in a community.
Gollan, I'm not sure which site TLHC is (meaning TLHS or FLHC?), but whichever it is, please return! Especially FLHC2 (Yahoo! group) needs decent men who aren't afraid to discuss their hair ('cuz it is supposed to be about both male and female hair). If it was at TLHS, email Frank, or post a MODERATE so he'll find the problem. Rudeness is against the rules.
I remember those comments from a while ago (I can't remember where), but rather than leaving in disgust, express your anger in a post. Before registration at TLHS, there were truly awful 1/2 lurking, 1/2 overtly rude & sexist trolls, one who even threatened to hunt down and kill a woman there a couple of years ago for daring to say that women should be allowed to cut their hair if they want. Sheesh.
Anyhow, please return (although the discussion at TLHS is just about women's hair... sigh..). :-/
JE
Well the envriroment at LHC seemed friendly enough but after a month of posting there I was suddenly banned. I take my hair seriously just like any woman posting there. The only difference was I'm male and I'm a haircare n00b. About a month ago I made a comment some deemed as offensive and was warned about it, it was only a sarcastic remark, but women offend easier than men. But then I decided to take part in the community again even making a web page about my hair, and I finally find myself banned. I have been banned from forums before, but usually because I had deserved it. I got banned from this forum, without trying. They even blocked my IP from accessing their website. Luckily that is what proxies are for. All in all this rant really has no meaning except, for I took it personally.

I made a comment that I guy with blond hair looked way to feminine. He put his hair into a number of feminine styles and I was flamed for it majorily. I said he looked too Feminine and should chose more masculine styles.

It seems all the xenophobia about men on the TLHC is because of 1 comment I made a month ago in the senstive issues boards. The females were saying way worse things than I did say but since I posted in that forum they have made a requirement for application for membership, totally shut down the senstive issues board also banned me from their website about 3 days ago for absolutly nothing but participation in the community and sharing my hair progress.

I don't usually contribute her, but FWIW, Ken, you're wrong on all accounts. I'm not going to get into why Stephanie decided to ban you from LHC, but it was the cumulative result of your posts (for which you had previously been warned) rather than a specific incident.
The decision to limit access to the SI board was something the moderator team had been discussing over a very long time and not at all connected to you. There was a huge amount of lurker traffic. After access was restricted, all of those meeting the posting criteria for membership were reminded that the board was not intended for sexually explicit discussion.
Hope this provides some clarification.
Chris
(Beatnik Guy, moderator, Long Hair Community)
I was warned about making negative comments on someone's hair and I stopped. I was warned to make jokes on the senstive issues boards and I stopped. What else did I do that deserved me getting banned. I wasn't trolling. I was participating in the forum. It seems a little drastic to block my ip from the Long hair community website too. Especially seeings how I can just get a proxy to get around that.
Was the last straw the comment I made about the dead cat. All I said was 11 years is kind of young for a cat to die and that my dog is that age and I hope she doesn't die.
It seems after I posted that comment I was banned.

Last straw is it exactly, Ken. There were many more straws, but that comment was crass, insensitive and inappropriate, like many other of your contributions at LHC. You were warned more than once - so what did you expect?
When I wrote the comment I didn't think it would be taken as insensitive.
Actually, I read that comment over there, and it seemed so innocuous that I read the headers of all 81 of his posts looking for something else. That doesn't include his posts to the 'sensitive issues' area, which apparently no-one can see anymore. I can't find anything offensive in the posts that are viewable.
I have asked Beatnik Guy about this, but am none the wiser.
Anyway its over. I have found a community about hair that is a lot better than LHC so I don't give a care.
Thanks, I am a member of TLHS and regularly check in to TLHS. I don't have much to contribute there because as you say it is limited to women's hair. I am rather curious to know how many members of this site are also regulars at TLHS.
As for TLHC (The Long Hair Community), the reason I didn't make a new post is that the main offensive thread was locked by a moderator as "we've all had our say" while I was trying to shake off the shock long enough to compose a level-headed response. Had I made a new post to continue the locked thread this would certainly have got me banned (it is rightly against the rules at most communities). I did sent a heartfelt and detailed complaint about the male-bashing to the moderators. The response from one was "TLHC is not for everybody". That says it all. It's a great community, just not for me anymore.
To keep this somewhat relevant to men's long hair and this community there is a lesson here. Communities evolve over time and it is up to the membership to steer it in the right direction. In particular I value the comfortable, encouraging, and open minded atmosphere here. Maintaining these traits can take real effort. For example my "Gentlemen" post from a few days ago was sincere but I was embarrassed when I realized I left out lady members. For me it is important to the character of the hyperboard to get these things right. This community has been instrumental in the achievement of my hair growth goals and in opening my eyes to some valuable truths about life.
It's a different site than either of those. TLHC stands for 'The Long Hair Community'. I post there as 'Alun', which just happens to be my real name. I wouldn't go as far as Gollan, but there seems to be a lot of paranoia over there. Actually, that's why I use my real name, lest they should think I was stalking them!
I have found a lot of useful information over there. However, they seem particularly concerned about guys who don't post. It seems that some guys have lurked and then downloaded pictures to display elsewhere. The trouble is that most guys don't know as much about hair care and lurk so as to pick up info. I don't think they have really thought about that in any kind of serious way.
I didn't know that they had purged all those who didn't post, but it fits in. They have blocked access to certain areas to all but those who have made hundreds of posts. There is a 'sensitive issues' area and a picture gallery that I can no longer see. The latter is a bit of a shame. I have my doubts about the moderators over there, but I don't think it's fair to extrapolate that to everyone else.
Okay, it's also commonly called LHC. I'm glad you're still there. I hope Gollan returns, if/when he's ready. I'm glad to see Absalom there, too. While the membership there is largely female, that site is supposed to be about long hair on both sexes, too, and the number of women who go gaga over long men's hair are many! As for the "paranoia"... it's more that some of the participants were very trusting and became shocked and embarrassed when they realized that some of what they had written was being read by anyone passing thru. Much of that is long over, though.
Well, being a woman with nearly 6 feet of hair, I've had my own negative experiences with male photo thiefs and hair fetishists. I'm not the only one, either, although I don't get as worked up about it as do some others, but feminine caution is based on personal experience. It would be more to the point for the women to direct their anger at just the perps, not all men, and for the men not to become indignant with the women for being cautious, but to direct their anger at the perps, too. Fair is fair all around.
Well, the SI board is gone now. Try PMing a mod regarding the photo board, and then start a thread posting some of your photos, how about? You've got beautiful hair, so obviously you know a thing or two or three about hair care.
I'm a big fan of long hair on men, so am enjoying coming back here. I used to stop by every so often, but the atmosphere seems friendlier now than years ago. I'd like to think I can offer helpful hair advice. :-)
JE
You have incredibly long beautiful hair, Lady G, and the members here would welcome good hair care advice. Surely you have much hair wisdom to share. How long did it take you to reach your current length? Absalom
Why, thank you, Sir. Your hair is d*mn impressive, too! I hadn't seen your face until stopping by here again, and I dig the beard. You asked... I've been growing my hair for just over 16 years. It grows very slowly, though. How about yours, how long? What shampoo/conditoner do you use? Do you get many splits? I use the Nature's Gate products and get extremely few splits. How do you routinely wear your hair to protect the ends? Men have so many restrictions in this area. It's a shame.
JE
Hi, Lady G. I have been growing my hair for about 13 years and I probably could have reached my current length in maybe 7 years if I had known what I was doing from the start. For me, it was a learning experience, trial and error. I currently am using Matrix Biolage shampoo with good results. Mane n' Tail conditioner works well on my hair and has a very high protein content. I also use clear anti-frizz hair serum products that contain dimethicone, cyclomethicone and other silicone derivatives with good results. Those high protein conditioners and silicone products seem to work well (for me) at preventing tangling and split ends. Everyone is an individual and products that work well for one person may not work as well for others. To protect my hair I routinely keep soft elastic cloth hair bands (usually 9 or 10 of them) along the entire length of my hair at about 4 inch intervals. This is much easier than braiding, but on special occasions I will braid it. And lastly the beard, I am considering growing it to terminal length. Victor, who is the webmaster of this site has a beard that reaches to near his waist and he is my inspiration to grow it really long. Absalom
Ya got me; yes, I shuddered when I read your products list, hahahaha. Not to worry! This just proves how different we all are, and what works for one doesn't necessarily work for another. At the same time, my hair history is a lot like yours, learning as I've been growing, wishing I knew then what I know now, as that could have halved the time required to reach this length. Oh, well! I know the multi-banded ponytail style you describe. I do that occasionally. Hey, what's your hair type, using Fia's system? Maybe more coarse than mine? I've learned that coarser hair usually handles silicones better than fine hair.
Good luck growing that beard!
JE
I have very mixed up hair which makes it nearly impossible to classify. What I have is very rare. I have seen a lot of hair in my life and have NEVER seen hair as mixed up as mine. It is about 60% straight(1a),20% wavy(2a), and 20% curly(3a). It also is a mix of about 50% fine, 25% medium, and 25% coarse. I also have a mix of all hair colors from the lightest blond to jet black, and cannot even hazard a guess on those percentages. I am of multi-european ethnicity and I got hair types from each of those ethnicities. In a nutshell my hair AVERAGES out overall to about 1cMii. Overall it is straight with a bit of wave, is of medium texture, and is of average density. Absalom
But it looks great all the same. :-)
JE
I don't remember your posts, but don't take it personally unless you did anything to deserve it. Steph purged the membership of all of the 0 posters very recently. Email her and find out.

I'm sorry I can't contriubute much on this topic. My application for membership to TLHC was rejected.
