The guy I seen with the weirdest, yet coolest hairstyle is Max from the band Soulfly. I thought this would be an awesome topic to talk about. He is a great Heavy-Metal Artist and his lyrics are something I can relate to. He stands up for American Indian rights from both North and South America. His dreads are still awesome eventhough he cut them a little shorter. His music is almost like my band's genre, Native-Metal.
Its not native metal he just throws tribal influences in like the drumming. Anyways personally Im not a big soulfly fan I saw them last year with slayer and In flames. I think he kicked way more ass in his days in Sepultura. Plus when he was in Sepultura he had badass long hair instead of the dreads.
I said he was like our band's genre, I didn't say he was our genre Native-Metal. I liked him in Sepultura too, but it wasn't what he was going for. He wanted to be more tribal than ever, and Sepultura had their doubts. So he moved to his band Soulfly, and he is also in another band NailBomb. Max I believe is doing way better than what he was in Sepultura.
soulfly sucks. I think of Sepultura's Arise and Beneath the remains and the killer shows I saw on those tours and damn, it makes me sick.
Well I look at it this way Sepultura was awesome with Max but now that hes gone they suck, but im also not a fan of soulfly so I stick with my melodic death metal.
Not true. His wife was getting in the way of the band. He was giving her some control in the management and whatever. The rest of the band didnt agree with his decision so they had a dispute and Max left and formed the crappy Soulfly. How can you possibly be more tribal than the song Kaiowas by Sepultura? Also I'm not too fond of the Roots album but that one had a bunch of tribal sounds...
Of course he's doing better, its called selling out. Soulfy is a horrible nu-metal band. They try to hide it by giving it a little tribal drumming...
Soulfly are pretty cool. I saw them last year when they toured the UK supporting the release of their album "3". Although my musical tastes have changed (I listen to death/black/melodic metal now) I still think they are good. Not so keen on Nailbomb though, I have one album by them but its kinda industrial punky metal?!
To relate back to hair, I personaly wouldnt have my hair like Max's but I do think it suits him. I did prefer his hair when he was in Sepultura... some of those guys have had "the chop!" as well now though :-(
