I was just watching American Chopper and I just realised that Mikey from the show has the most accurate length that I wanna grow. A little longer than that but still has awesome hair. Definately looks better when in a ponytail.
But I'd like to know from your guys (and ladies) who's your longhair Idol?
Robert Redford, I've had a haircut recently and am trying to grow it like him.
is he a real "longhair" I'm not sure, to me this is long. To some of you it might be nothing. but he's always worn it well, just the perfect length.
When Mel Gibson decided to wear long hair in Braveheart that is what set my heart on long hair.

Gibson let his hair grow quite long on a few occasions in the late 1980s----a lot longer than he wore it in the Lethal Weapon movies. I recall Time magazine even had a pic & brief comment about its length around then. Gibson also appeared on Jay Leno several years ago and mentioned that he had hair down to his back when he was much younger. Women in the audience applauded in delight at his description.
NO
Well no this still qualifies as short hair by anyone's definition, its not even verging on mid-length!
Admitedly Redford has always had pretty good hair, never supershort and always pretty neat even for someone I share more than a single generation gap with ;-)
Though JJ you need to revise your definition of "long hair" you'll get flamed no end otherwise - Shoulder length and beyond is a good basis.

When I was wearing my hair "longish" rather than long, I used to hope I could match the rugged look of Clint Eastwood as in this pic. I had to google for this--we had this poster on the wall at school, and I remember his hair being longer. Then again, for those days, this was long to me.

Two guy's hair that I really admire.
supposed to be johnny depp

Mine would have to be Tom Warrior aka Thomas Gabriel Fischer. The #1 influence on my music. The creator of black, death, and thrash metal. Created Hellhammer as an early teenager in 1982 and then creating Celtic Frost in 1984. Unfortunately Celtic Frost broke up in 1994 leaving Tom Warrior to create the crappy thrash/industrial metal band Apollyon Sun but good news folks that Celtic Frost regrouped several years ago and has been working an a new album since...
I've gotta say that I really honestly don't have any particular famous person as a hair "idol".. Many people on this board certainly could fit into that position, though.
On a somewhat related note, I recently remembered one of the first times I ever really saw a long-haired male.. Interestingly enough, on the TV show Power Rangers, which I watched when I was much younger. The green ranger, I believe, had a ponytail, and I remember thinking how cool it'd be to have my hair like that.. That was probably 10 years ago, and I only started growing my hair much in the past couple years, but I imagine that original experience contributed to my hair's being long now.
No doubt about it...my longhair idol is and always will be John Lennon. I remember the first time seeing the pics that came with the White Album. I knew they were growing it long, but it wasn't until then that I realized that these guys were serious. But it was John's hair that grabbed my attention! It looked so cool. After seeing that, it had always been my desire to have long hair...
...and, of course, that little band he was in and the music they wrote wasn't too shabby either!
Brett
YAY for Mikey!!!!!!!! He has great looking hair and it will look incredible when it gets really long. Absalom
I can mention people I think look good with it, but my original inspiration... I've been wanted to grow it long ever since I was a little kid, so I dare say I can't recall if anything in specific set that off. My brother had semi-long hair back then, that might have attributed.

ya for me its always been former calvin klein model Travis Fimmel, hes got the exact style and length i'm goin for!
Agreed, it was Travis Fimmel who inspired me, to grow my hair out this time. Though it was encouraged by Tom Cruise & David Beckham for the mid length styles.
I've also got a put a lot down to women with long hair too, Jennifer Aniston for example, I'd love to have hair like her. Long Hair is kinda unisex in my opinion, so you can easily be inspired by women with long hair too.

I don't know about long hair 'idol' but when I decided I was serious about growing my hair I think Aaron progress pics, a member here, provided some inspiration as I could really check how long it should be for each month and if I was on target or not. Now for Idol, I would say Travis Fimmell has inspired me recently with his surfie looking styles. And also I admire Jeff Hanneman's hair from the band Slayer, it looks awesome when he headbangs, although it could look better!
Here's a of Jeff on top of the page (it should appear I think!)
I agree with you about Jeff Hanneman, I just saw Slayer live last Tuesday and he was great. He's looked the EXACT same for a little over 10 years, which is a good thing. Also makes you realize how once you go through a few months of the awkward stage, which really isn't the end of the world anyway, then you're in the clear for as long as you want! (unless you go bald like kerry king)
Haha yea, Kerry King looks great with a shaved head!\m/
As for Hanneman I don't think he'll ever lose his hair!:)Email me if you want = round_disk@hotmail.com or add me to messenger.

.
When he had waist length hair.
You should've never said his name. I LOVE ANTHONY KIEDIS. I hate him for cutting his hair though. I do not want to resemble his hair though. If you liked Anthony's hair, have you seen how long John's hair is now. Just as long as Anthony's was. Plus I like John's more waivy hair, because mine is waivy. My favorite band, eventhough I like Murderdolls as much. I like anykind of music that sounds good to my ears
Anthony Kiedis had great waist length hair, it sure is a shame that he cut it short, though. Absalom
This one is a better shot, but it's big, so here's a link. He's furthest on the right.
This is Vogg, guitarist for Polish death metal band Decapitated. I prefer the 'larger' style of his hair compared with the finer hair of the guy on the far left. I want to have hair like that until I am in my mid 20's (or whenever it stops suiting me), then I will get it trimmed to look like this:
Kurt Cobain (collective groan...)
Kurt Cobain (collective groan...)
That's sort of how it is right now actually.
Never had one. I just grew it.
For anyone just starting out there, know that you don't have to have an idol or hair that you want it to look like in order to grow it successfully. In fact, you may be even more pleased with you effort (if you can stick it out) by not having someone you want or need to look like as you probably won't be disappointed if you don't end up looking like someone else with the unique hair that your body grows.
Yeah, I agree! I know for some it might be possible to replicate a certain hair, but as far as I've seen my hair does what it pleases so I'll end up with what *my* hair wants to do. I think it's going to look fine, so I'm going for it!

Who is he? That's awesome hair...
Willie Nelson.
Cher. She was the most beautiful woman in the world to me when I was growing up. Hope the remote link works!

There is no one favorate, but I guess there are three I could think of now:
Leonardo Da Vinci, an artist, inventor and engineer in the Renaissance.
Sitting Bull, a famous medicine man and a leader of Sioux Indians.
Samuel Morse, who invented Morse code.
I really don't have an idol. I'm my own man. But if I'd have to choose an longhair idol, its rocker Edgar Winter. He has nice long blond hair!
