Now that's interesting!
OK. Everything has limits. Let met be the first to say "Eeeew".
Can you imagine carrying all that hair around with you that hasn't been washed in 7 years? There are probably rats and snakes nesting in it.
I don't see how all these asian people can completly ignore their hair and yet get 20 feet of length. That is unreal. Think about how much lice his hair has in it. I'm all for long hair but not only is 20 feet excessive but this guy hasn't washed his super long locks in 7 years.
Its not an "Asian" thing, its not common anywhere, but it occurs the world over. The last copy of of the Guiness book of Records I have shows a women with the longest hair in the world and she was of European Decent.
It does beg the question what the secret to terminal length is though doesn't it? Aparently washing, conditioning and detangling are not the way forward... Maybe Vincent has the right philosophy?
I'm looking for nice shiny hair though not matted in dreadlocks
thanks for destroying our planet so you can have nice silky hair and look good instead of accepting it in its natural form.
Thanks. Really.

*Confused*
Would you like to explain that one? How is Kenneth, for all his aparent faults on LHC *wink*. Destroying the Planet because he wants nice shiny hair? I want the same thing?
How does that destroy the planet?
I think people use the term "natural" way too much. Most people want nice shiny hair some, want it in dreadlocks and some don't wash it at all. If by using conditoner in my hair I am destroying the planet, than so is the person using dreadlocks. Most of the people I see with dreadlocks buy way more products than Simple Conditioners and Shampoos.
Chemicals such as the ones found in commercial shampoos and conditioners destroy the earth, are shipped in toxic plastic bottles, etc.
Your point being?
What???
Dreadlocks require no other maintenance than time. What is the problem?
People that use chemicals to have dreadlocks are just as guilty, yes. But those are not accepting their natural state of hair, so yes, they are in the same category. Where's the trouble?
Whatever, i'm used to people destroying the planet anyway. Babylon slaves.
-vincent
I want to see what you look like because you haven't posted a pic yet. Too me dreadlocks are just nasty always, has been always will be. Sorry I'm posting my opionion, don't like it screw off. Although I respect your view that dreadlocks are natural and that people should accept the natural state of their hair, I disagree. People should wear their hair in anyway they like.
\: : : Would you like to explain that one? How is Kenneth, for all his aparent faults on LHC *wink*. Destroying the Planet because he wants nice shiny hair? I want the same thing?
look again, i have.
So when you have a knot in your hair it's nasty?
talk about long hair proving anything, haha
-vincent
Oh, they CAN do whatever they want to their hair. However, I also have the right to say it when it's harmful to the earth.
Right now we're both deceiving ourselves, you by judging hair with knots is dirty (you know that not washing is actually not a very efficient way to get natural locks, right? frequent washing is better), and me by judging that unknoted hair is unnatural.
Of course one of the two is provable, but that's not the point. we're deceiving ourselves by judging.
take care

Do you have any idea what computers do to the environment? Ever read up on computer "recycling" in 3rd world countries? Know anything about chemicals like Diborane, Arsenic, and others used in the semiconductors that make up these boxes?
So, I may have been hypocritical in playing the role of "the they" in criticizing a guy who's hair is outside the norm, but no more hypocritical than you.
Yes, I do. And haven't bought a computer for a long time. I'm currently using a sun enterprise 2E as a workstation, which was donated to me at a previous job. A few other machines used here were also donated.
And computer recycling is most likely what I will do as a job. I don't feel like doing chemistry again, but it's just too disgusting as it is right now.
Maybe not. However, I think I am pretty careful with the environmental implications of everything I do, and people have called me a bit too extreme in that regard (which i really dislike), so maybe I'm not all that hypocritical?
The "if you're not perfect you're just as bad as me" excuse is funny to me, but use it as you wish! I'm not what I do for looks, if you're less hypocritical than me, well more power to you! And to my earth, so thank you!
I use computers for good, and I would gladly give it up any time. Could you?

Vincent whilst I applaude your environmentalism, I think you are going a little OTT by criticising Kenneth for using Shampoo. No one is blameless for when it comes to damaging the envrionment and its petty to compare individual people for their impact, especially over a bottle of shampoo.
I'd focus your efforts on pursuading your government to implement CO2 emission limitations, higher taxes on cars with low Gas Mileage, buying timber products from sustained forrests, reducing 3rd World Debt so slash n burn subsistence farming is not the only option to the poorest on the planet who live in the worlds natural resource areas. Focus on the big picture, the rest will come with that.
Sorted
Well, in fact I did not condemn Kenneth at all, but his proposed "alternative".
I have trouble with people condemning others for a personal choice affecting noone else (especially when the person is talking out of his behind like kenneth w/r to lice/grease/etc) and then advocate an alternative that destroys the environment.
Have I not said in the past that I rarely judge people, but unfortunately sometimes I will judge ideas. Sorry if it was taken the wrong way.
I dont agree with that, it's the small choices that go a long way. Of course handling the big picture is important too, but the government will NEVER MAKE ANY CHANGE if the people requesting it aren't living up to what they request.
Acting in a non environment-friendly fashion is only possible via double-thought (or ignorance, which is hard to accept in todays' world)
-vincent
OK Vincent I'll be blunt so I'm a little clearer is we all act in non-environmentally friendly ways, its petty to go after specific individuals for their choices. By all means Educate the masses about the little things as well as thethe big things. But don't persecute people because they use shampoo.
Next you'll be saying don't breath the air because its running out. Please, get a sense of proportion.
Instead of concentrating on being blunt, you could have read the post again, and attempted to understand it.
I _WILL_ continue to persecute CHOICES that are harmful to the environment. Of course if people are so attached to their actions as to feel personally attacked, well that's too bad.
Don't put such stupid words in my mouth. Breathing doesn't make air run out, cutting trees does. And i'm definitely against cutting trees.
Please accept the consequences of your actions even if you don't want to change them.
This thread is going nowhere anyway....
take care

Sorted I agree with you. This is a long hair forum where people share tips, I don't want to feel, and I doubt others would like to feel like they've been damned by an angry priest because they purchased a bottle of Aussie Mega! I do a lot of conservation work, and as soon as better alternatives come along and I am at an age where I can live on my own and earn my own money, I would considering limiting the impact on environment further. Some poeple here are not 18 or an adult and therefore you can't expect much from them.
Thanks SurferDude... nice to know I wasn't out on a limb.
Vincent, your right this thread is going nowhere and the thread depth limit has been reached anyway. Lets not fall out over this. Your welcome to question other people's choices, I just think maybe there a bigger fish to fry than Kenneth cracking open a bottle of conditioner...
I support your environmentalism, but lets set some realistic goals, people are not going to stop washing their hair. But they are quite likely to car-pool on school runs. If you want to make a difference in this world, I'd urge you to think about what you can realistically achieve and focus on that. Otherwise your just going to come across as an angry green who no-one listens to. I'm learning that myself as an Angry Liberal.
Wow! This thread grew nicely while I was at work. What did you guys use on it? :)
Where did you get the idea he had lice?
Come on.
-vincent
You are right, but at least the snakes will have something to eat which will at least take care of the rat problem. Absalom
I agree that it is not a good example of long hair. It should not be used as a world's record for long hair. The matted up hair probably is hair that has fallen out years ago, and the matted hair could be stretched to be longer or maybe made into ropes of nearly unlimited length.
It seems a better world's record would measure hair that is verified to not have fallen out.
He hasn't washed it in 7 years, and you can really see it. It's like a bag of grease!
Long hair usually compliments peoples looks, but that does him no favours at all, I think in this 'rare' circumstance, I think he needs it buzzed. Eeew!!
have you seen it? have you touched it? have you smelled it?
have you thought of the fact that any oil produced by his scalp will be pulled by the huge quantity of hair?
do you have the same hair texture? do you have the same oil production rate as he?
FWIW i don't think it looks like a grease bag; i think it looks pretty clean.
talk about people having long hair proving anything...

Looks like me on a Monday morning !
D'oh! Wish I'd seen this before posting the same thing just a minute ago!
As for the record, even *I* have MY limits. Personally, at this point, I'm thinkin' knee length, at most.
