Picture Purged
Here's a pic of the back of my head. It's a wavy mess, and this was after combing it! At the moment, the back can touch past my shoulder blades when pulled straight. The bangs are at the bottom of my nose, and the sides fall in line with my jaw bones when pulled straight, maybe a little past.
Does anyone know what that small bald patch could be and what caused it?
Comments welcome:)
That bald spot looks like your crown to me, friend. My part right above my forhead is thin. Click on my picture to zoom it in and have a look.
Keep growing, there needs to be more longhaired men in the world.
Looks like you'll be able to tie a ponytail soon! :)
Ivix
Hey, thanks man. I was pretty sure it was a crown, but didn't realise that it's bald in the middle!. I've seen your pic, and the thinning, but it looks great, I don't see much of a problem. I've got quite a high forehead so any growth is set back about nearly a centimetre because of it. Yea, I hope to tie a ponytail by about December the 16th, I'm playing in a concert on stage in a church and need it tied back, but by then it should be 13 months into growing.
Your hair looks similiar to mine. Mine is a big wavy mess too, but think of this Wavy hair looks great on Men when long.
surfer dude, you ever try using a straightner? it will keep your hair at the length it really is, instead of holding it back.
Hey SurferDude - Wavy is about what you can expect right now :-) I think your hair is looking great, and the length you describe is really quite awesome considering your just 6 months in.
As for the "bald patch" That's your crown, its just the natural part at the back of your head, its not a bald patch. I have one too, the only worrying thing about it is my Dad started balding at his crown in his late 40's which probably means I'll do the same. He has a full head of hair otherwise and never showed any signs of hair loss before this age. (Damn, I'm depresed now, I probably only have 20 years of long hair left...)
Gutted.
Sorted, don't feel depressed!!.
By then, there will probably be many many advanced treatments like Propecia, where you don't have to take the drug everyday. And anyway, according to lady G, you follow your grandfather on your mother's side, as the gene for hair loss isn't on the Y chromosome. There may be a slight chance, but I shouldn't imagine it will affect you by the time you reach that age:)
The future's bright:)

Lol, so your saying that if your Grandfather on the mothers side went bald at an early age, then the same will happen to you? If this is the case, is it 100% certian that you would follow in the same way?
Here's the post Lady G made: link below

That should explain it:)
That's not a bald patch, that is where your hair is parted. Keep up the progress. Doing Good!
Your crown looks pretty much the same as mine, although when I lift my hair up it does look quite thin. How about yours?
And Ivix, I checked your photo out, but can't see any thinning?
I dont think you should be worried about how wavy it looks- I think that looks really cool, actually! Also, your hair looks very healthy and shiny. And it looks silky like you said it is! Good work!
Nothing to worry about - that's jsut the crown where all the hairs which naturally go in different directioins meet together and give a sort of part.
Looks good - for such a short period of growing guess your parents are happy to let you do your own thing?
Do not fret, your wave will relax as your hair gets longer and heavier. Absalom
Looking good! That is some nice wave that you'll be glad to have it when your gets longer. I've got the same bare spot in most of my 'back of head shots'. As everyone has pointed out, it is not baldness.
It is nice when people are supportive. But, it is more valuable when they are helpful. Your hair looks great! (supportive). I think however that the thin area at your crown may be the very first sign of the dreaded male pattern baldness. (hopefully helpful) That's exactly how it started for me. I remember the day. My girlfriend at the time was standing behind me when I was sitting. She touched my crown and said, "Hmmm you're getting a little thin here." A decade later, that thinning had progressed into a very pronounced bald spot. I began taking Propecia as soon as it became available. It stopped the balding progression in it's tracks. For me, it also actually helped me to regrow "some" of the hair that I had lost. Propecia, and the newer and probably even more effective drug, Avodart", are much better at retaining hair than they are at regrowing it. So, with that in mind, time is of the essence. I encourage anyone who suspects that they may be losing their hair, see a doctor, and if warranted, get a prescription. An ounce of prevention is worth ten million tons of cure. We don't have to just accept going bald anymore, but we do have to do something to stop it.
Hey Surferdude-
You are really making great progress! Looks good to me. Wavy mess? No way. Actually it is on the artistic side the way the "waves" go.
That is one of the milestones of when you can reach the end of your nose with your Bangs. Next milestone will be the mouth........and actually, it happens rather quickly. Just when it gets there try to not chew it all off. :-) lol
The "Bald Spot" you commented on is really not a Bald spot. The same type "look" happens to me also. I think it has something to do with the way the middle part ends in the back. It doesn't just end in a straight line and suddenly stop cold, but rather continues on in a slight curve as it begins its vanishing act at the back of your head. You CAN sometimes make this so-called Bald spot not as noticable by combing the hair in this area (if it really bothers you) until it isn't noticable...........or barely so. Just takes some experimenting.
Long hair for you should be quite awesume! And........I think that you will find it of not only great joy but fun as well the longer it gets.
Justin
Actually is not a bald spot at al, it's just where the hair
parts, you have one your forehead also. Nothing to worry about.
Thanks everyone for the comments, my hair seems to be getting quite longish now, notice I choose my words carefully:)
And I just want to say, I LOVE my hair getting in my eyes all the time, it's awesome, I can't believe some people cut it off.
I don't think I am going bald as all my family have no trace of MPB, only very slight thinning at the back, just my grandfather in his late 70's, you can't evern notice it really. My father has thick curly hair and he's 66, no sign of him losing his hair:)
Thanks again for all the encouraging comments!
