ive noticed people are starting to grow their hair longer again.especially grow a shag.my hairs pretty short but id like to grow a shag.the only problem is i dont have a wave in my hair my hair is pencil straight and thick.im pretty sure it would look pretty stupid.any suggestions?
Yeah, just grow your hair out and be appreciative of your own hair. There are people that would love to have pencil straight hair, and there are those that would love to have curly hair. But after all, unless you're willing to spend lots of money and damage your hair a lot, you're always going to have pencil straight, thick hair(excepting male pattern baldness).
Don't want to be discouraging to you, but it basically comes down to that, imo.
It's better to appreciate the hair you have, and leave it as it is. Trying to get your hair to do something that it wouldn't naturally do on it's own is stressful, to you and to your hair.
Straight, thick hair looks fabulous long! You also have very good natural coloring.
Leave it alone and see what it looks like once it's grown out. At least give it a chance to impress you in it's natural state before making any changes/decisions.
Pencil straight hair looks the best to grow long, in my opinion. I really can't stand any sort of shaggy curl.
Hi Chris, your hair will look absolutely great when long. Stick straight hair looks really awesome at waist length. I don't know what goal length you want but I would encourage you to grow it, it definitely will not look stupid. You have the best possible hair type to grow long. Straight hair is the easiest to grow out with a minimum of problems. Curl or wave actually makes growing it out more difficult. Take a look at some of our photos, especially a guy who uses the handle "Hair Religion". He has awesome, nearly knee length, straight hair. He has a very helpful hair care website with many links. (My hair is nearly knee length too, but has some wave in it.) Best wishes on your decision. Absalom
