Hello, I figured someone here could help me with a problem I'm having. My hair is about a few inches past my chin, and touches my shoulders. So i can get it into a decent ponytail. The problem is that, after having it tied back for a few hours, when I let it out it looks different. You can sort of see that it was pulled back and it stays that way, with it curving in towards where the hair tie was. If it's really straight when I first tie it back, later on it curves noticably. It's hard to explain (sorry, I don't have any pictures.)Does anyone know why this is, or possible ways to change it? It can look bad after having it back the entire day and then letting it down.
Thanks alot
I dont think theres any way to avoid that...the same thing happens to me n im sure it happens to alot of others on the board. I think this happens because the band/hair tie is too tight, the only way to prevent this is obviously to wear the hair tie looser...buh i think u have to have pretty long hair to do that.
I also get a "crease" in my hair after wearing a ponytail for awhile.
I think if you loosen the tail you will not get as much of a crease.
My hair does the same thing, eventhough my hair is naturally wavy. It helps your hair in alot of ways!
of course it changes shape; its hair...
Just shake your head vigorously after you untie it and it should be, well. different again. but not pulled back! :)

I think hair rather has a "memory" so to speak.........and after being in this Ponytail all day, when let loose is more used to the "Ponytail" configuration. You might try this and most likely it will work quite well:
After removing the Ponytail tie dampen the hair just a bit with water and then comb all down. With luck, this will solve the problem.
Good Luck.
i actually think its cool when it just comes out the tail and wish mine stayed like that longer. it gives it a nice wave and a bit of body.
It's called a pony tail bump. And it happens to everyone who wears a tail. You can minimize it though by using scrunchies instead of regular ties. They are much gentler on your hair and don't leave such a noticible mark. You can get small ones in dark colors that aren't too obvious.
