We've all gotta have one. Perhaps it's getting trims too often for your own good, or being too rough when you pull a comb through it. Maybe you wash it too much, or not nearly enough. Or even something like playing with it a lot, which isn't necessarily bad, unless it gets in the way of other things.
My worst habit is buying products for it. I'm always on the lookout for a "dream" shampoo and conditioner- which I never really quite find. If I hear that someone else has good results with something, I'm intrigued to try it.
It's very weird, as I am not a product junkie about anything else.
What is your guys worst habit?
I've got a couple bad habits.. I tend to mess with my bangs way too much when my hair's down. They never seem to like to stay the way I'd like them to be, so I'm always moving them back to where they should be.
And I'm the same with the product-buying.. I still haven't found anything that works perfectly for me, although I guess what I have right now is working alright. Then again, right now I have 3 shampoos, 2 conditioners, and jojoba oil, all of which I use on a somewhat regular basis.
Welcome to the club! I also like to buy thousands of different shampoos and conditioners. But I found out about a way to make my hair look good and be straight. I got this trick form aunt Zissy, She's 93 years old and she told me to use burr-root-oil over night once a week. And It's great. My hair looks good (no more bad hair days anymore) and it's easy to brush.
Try it!
Personally I have several, the first I think I've cracked:
4 years ago I could get my my hair cut 3-4 times a week - That's called OCD. That one I'm well over... These days I get my hair cut less than 4 times a year. (This year so far twice, well once really as the second was to correct the first.) No trims since February.
More recently once my hair was long enough to reach my mouth, I would subconciously chew the ends... not good - I've kicked this habit too having seen the damage that results. Though at the time I wasn't really conciously aware of what I was doing. Its like biting your nails.
Still my biggest bad habit is combing when wet. But Honestly I can't see another way. If I don't detangle my hair before its dry then the knots that form are a nightmare to get out. So I still have to run a comb through my hair whilst its wet. Though I'm drying to let my hair dry as much as possible before I comb it through and I always finger rake first. Though the longer I leave my hair to dry before combing it the more wild and wavy it dries, so I'm between a rock and hard place.
I'm using tones of conditioner just to keep my hair protected.
Sorted
I brush my hair when it's wet, too. But I make sure I'm using my brush with widely-spread-apart bristles and I don't ever go over any area more than once or twice. I really don't think it causes much, if any, damage that way, and I make sure it's a lot drier before I use a brush with more bristles on it. It seems to me that brushing when wet is only really bad if you try and completely untangle it.
Hey Sorted -
Ever tried that once a week "Hot Oil" treatment I have spoken of on this board? Really.........hair soaking wet and all and the comb slips right through without a single tangle or a hair snapping. (Well, at least in my case.) It is amazing!
Just in case you ever decide to give it a try.
All the best-
Justin~
Hmm I comb when wet, but very gently. I'm always on the lookout for new conditioners I use conditoners and shampoo's with cones in them. I probally look in the mirror to see if my hair about 20 times a day, Trying to see if I could ponytail my hair at 7,5 months.
always playing with my hair and looking in the mirror to see how good it looks
Ohh yes I play with my hair all the time, I need to really stop
I've got a couple of bad habits. First is taking regular monthly pics of myself and measuring the length of my hair using a ruler now and again! I also play with my hair way too much, especially when I talk to girls, when I'm lost in a deep conversation and seeing their long hair makes me start to wind my hair around my fingers . That leads me to develop curls, especially at the sides so my hair stays crap all day until I can put a cap over it again.
And I look in the mirror and comb my hair so many times a day, but I don't mind that bit:)
Go positive
What have you done with your sideburns an d the short hairs at your neck?
Your sideburns must be quite strong now and the pic you put up earlier shows that your back/nck is long( and good)so have you thought about regularly shaving your neck?
Thanks
Hi UK, with the sidburns, they grow so slow that they are probably only a millimetre and my hair covers them so I just leave it.
Also, I dont think I have much hair on the back of my neck, so I've left that.
Um, I cant make a ponytail yet so If no one can see it.... Do you think I should?
I'm sorta confused lol about sideburns, cause they aren't long, I don't have much of facial hair, but the hair which is above my sideburns which belongs to my actual scalp hair are long now, about down to my jawbone, perhaps half inch below.
All that stuff will fade out once your hair has reached the final length you want it, and it's been there a year or two. It just becomes part of you.
Nothingr really, except maybe I brush it too often and occasionally force through a snag if I'm in a hurry.
Forgetting to clean out my hairs that fall in the bathroom sink after brushing. It really pisses off my brother
I know what you are talking of. My whole Family is angry with me, because I spread my hair all around the house and every drain is blocked with hair. But I don't care about it, I'm just sad for the lost hairs :-)
Keep growing everyone!!
Let your HAIR crow!
Wind or tangle risks: riding a motorcycle, in a convertible, and in my truck with all windows down (no AC). I do ponytail and/or bandana it for restraint, but it's not long enough for it all to stay.
I will periodically grab my ponytail and slide my hand down the length, to pull out any lose hairs, and then re-do the tail itself. I usually manage to pull out a half dozen or so lose hairs when I do this.
Same here. I just can't leave it alone.
I wear these massive Philips headphones while at my computer. They seem ot add a slight wave to my hair when it's fully pushed back. Going to have to find a good pair of earphones I think.

I have a folder on my computer with about 80 photos of my hair over the past 6 months... it's really quite sad, but I kinda need to see the progress it's making or I'd get depressed and cut it.
I also keep tossing or pushing my bangs out of my eyes, so that's an annoying habit, though it'll pass. I get so sick of doing it I often end up just talking to someone with my hair hanging in my eyes.
One of my friends has taken to pushing them back when I do that, but I don't mind - I'm getting whiplash doing it myself.
I'm a bit anal about the condition of my hair - I have to wear a hat in rain, I have to use gentle conditioners and shampoos, and I go mental if people, for example, spray fizzy drinks at me.

I think my worst habit at the moment is running my fingers through my hair to often, it ends up really greasy at the end of the day. I guess i just like the feel of my long(ish) hair :-).
My bad habits are:
1. Always pushing my hair out of the way.
2. Constantly looking in mirrors or other reflective surfaces, like windows. Lol. I've walked into a lot of stuff like doors doing that.
3. Running my fingers to get the knots out.
