I have medium brown hair that is not curly at all. I think it would look nasty and "unclean" if I had long hair. It always seemed to me that long hair should be somewhat wavy or curly to look best, and NOT my color. A much ligher, blonder color would look best. If anyone out there has the same hair type as me, please post a picture so I can see possible styles for myself! Thanks!
Oh yeah, I forgot to add that I would definately not look right with STRAIGHT long hair. I would need some waves or curls or something. How can you curl hair? With a curling iron is it easy? Thanks.
Actually straight hair looks awesome when long and is MUCH easier to take care of than wavy or curly hair. My advice would be to try growing it out a bit leaving it straight to see what it looks like first. Adding curl to your hair using a curling iron can do a lot of damage to it. You might want to seek the advice of a professional cosmetologist before adding any curl or wave to it. Absalom
You can put waves in your hair without the use of irons. Just use products and "scrunge" your hair, I do it every now and then.
i dont think it's worth growing your hair if you hate it that much.
get over your low hair self esteem and then grow it proudly and honestly.
good luck!

I've got a rather medium brown color, although it's a little more to the dark side. And my hair's not perfectly straight, but it's also not all that terribly wavy, either. You can probably find some pictures by clicking my name and finding the posts with the PIC tag.
Two thoughts, though, although I think people've said both before already. But oh well.
One, have you ever had your hair long before? It might actually have some wave to it after all. You never know until you let it grow.
And two, even if it does turn out to be perfectly straight, I'm sure there're a whole lot of people out there who would give anything to have perfectly straight hair. It has the capability to look reeeeally good when it gets long.
The other factor is that it people often do tend to look the best when their hair's its natural color and shape rather than a changed one. The hair that your body makes for you is almost certain to look good on you.
Also, a lot of people tend to get really focused on having their hair exactly a certain way, but it almost never turns out that way when it gets long, of course. I'm not saying you're one of those people, but it does sound like you might have some kind of preconceptions about long hair types. During the process of growing, though, you'll probably realize that, hey, maybe the type of hair you have isn't so bad after all. I wanted perfectly straight hair when I started growing, but like I said, it's a bit wavy. But while growing, I've also grown to really like the way my hair looks on me.
