Ok so today I went to a barbeque with my mom, grandma, grandpa and brother. While we are there the topic of my hair comes up. She sees me scratch my head and says "could you not do that near the table its disgusting" So I say, well Ive seen you scratch your head so whats the difference, she says "my hair actually looks good, yours is disgusting" My brother says that I look like a fag bum and asks if I ever wash it. Isnt it fair for me to get mad? I tell my brother to shut his mouth and my mom says "Watch your mouth". Im thinking wtf, my brother just called me a whole bunch of names... Why the hell does it not matter what I say since "I look like an idiot". My family are such conformists. My mom has to have the "in-hair style" and my brother listens to all of the rap music (crap music). But anyway, I tell them I cant wait for my hair to be down to my lower back. My grandpa closes his eyes and shakes his head and my mom says "You dont think Im gonna be taking you on vacation or to restaurants with this hair?!" I say, "well what did you think I ment when I said I was growing my hair?" She gave the excuse "I thought you were gonna get it styled and have it neat." Yea right... As for my grandpa, I asked him if it was ok for jesus to have long hair. Anyway Im just babbling cuz Im pissed plus my mom bumped into a car on the war home....
If it costs too much, I suggest you confront your family and work your problems out. Say your hair is apart of you and your beliefs, and if she is against it she just is. I hate rap music too lol, but I suggest you confront your grandfather and brother too. I love my family so much, and I know I don't have these hair/family problems you have, but when someone is upset with me I confront them. It is best you not offend them because that will make everything even worse.
My family's amazing. My dad had long hair when he was younger, until he joined the RAF, and my grandad, my mum's dad, has a pony tail, and is a stone mason. It's stories that remind me how lucky I am.
BTW, I like perticular US hip-hop artists and some underground UK hip-hop, aswell as turntablism.
If what Insane Dwayne doesn't work, then work on not letting them get to you and letting their remarks slide over you. It may sound easier than it is, but if you really want long hair, it's just another thing to get over.
Personally, if it got bad enough to never talking to them again, I would.
