hey all,
is there a "safe" way of straighting your hair. i heard both the heat irons and chemical ways can be damaging over time and i dont want to do that. if there is any other ways please let me know, thank you all,

Combing and Conditioning. Your hair will not be perfectly straight, but it will be healthy :)
Is blow drying it straight safe? Thats what I do and its nearly perfectly straight although it only lasts two days at the very most
Make sure it doesn't heat your hair up too much, but other than that it is perfectly okay :)
Thanks dude if I smell burning or see smoke ill stop hehe :-)
I use a blow dryer that has cool and warm settings. I usually use the warm, as the cool setting just takes too long. I'm a very impatient person. hehehe
Matrix makes a product line called Smooth Look. Orange containers. The shampoo and the conditioner, plus the styling creme, all soften the wavy hair, even the curly hair, to where it's nearly straight. I use a blow dryer, but I don't burn the hair and I keep the dryer at arms length when I use it so it's quite a distance from the scalp. Anyway, I'm really pleased with this product and I've been using it since February. Every few weeks I use a good cleansing shampoo to make sure any build up of "stuff" is taken out. Otherwise, I stick to the Matrix products. You can buy them at salons but I use a national chain called Ulta which sells beauty supplies for less money. You can also go to Google, then type in "Matrix" and go to their website to see this product and read what it can do. I'm totally pleased, dude, and recommend it to anyone. Salon products are the safest anyway. Josh (let me know if you look into this product line, man, okay?)
Depending on how unstraight you hair is you may away with blowdrying with a paddle brush on cool setting/warm. If you have mayjor curly hair you could try the 'phyto' hair straightening treatment which is supposed to be one of the most gentle ones out there, or you could spend out and get the japanese bio inonic straightening treatment which lasts for months and is pretty gentle. Also straightners/blowdryers arent so bad if you use a heat protector and use conditioner regularly.
How Wavy/Curly is your hair?
If you have a light wave, you can probably straighten it using a little product and a cool blow dry setting. The leave in conditioner I use actually holds my hair pretty straight if I don't touch it too much, I have a natural wave to my hair, which can get pretty wild.
Hey,
Do you have wavy or curly hair? My hair's curly and I've been thinking about straightening for a long time, but have not actually done anything. I'd be interested to learn what you decide.
