I have a not so bad dandruff problem, but everytime I used Head and Shoulders, it made it much worse. This product says it gets rid of dandruff, but it makes it stick harder to my scalp. My hair is never as free as it is when I don't use it. I feel the dandruff in disgusting clumps and it makes my head itch like hell. DO NOT EVER BUY HEAD AND CRAPPY SHOULDERS!!! I think it works better if your hair is short, but there is also a women's Head and Shoulders. Used that too, and it had the same effect. I'd rather have my little bit of dandruff, then to buy Head and Shoulders. I use Suave which is great for my hair. It makes my hair feel smell and shine really good. I love Suave, I hate Head and Shoulders. Feel free to Reply :)
I'm not sure I want to be standing next to you when Procter & Gamble's corporate lawyers read your post about their product ;). In my opinion a lot of people confuse dandruff, a serious scalp condition, with flaking and itching, which is a minor scalp condition. Flaking and itching can be treated by shampooing less and rinsing the scalp with Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) after shampooing and before conditioning. In my experience the use of Head and Shoulders to treat my flaking and itching lead to more flaking and itching.
If they are going to make a crappy product promising to get rid of scalp irritation and it don't I should be sewing them :) Ah well, I'm not the one to hold grudges, but they should do something to make the product better. Anyway
SUAVE OWNS :)
Dwayne
Sewing is a great way to make a mend
God - how drole are we?? Oh I said n/t didn't I?
Better shut up.
I might be droll but never 'drole' !!
OK OK I'm deviating... sewing... to thread... to needles... to points... there's a link in there somewhere...
we're all bursting at the seams here.
nice puns! :-)

I don't think they care. I guess only about 50 or so people read a message like this. It would probably be more "damaging" to Procter & Gamble to stand on a busy street corner the tell your story. I probably the people most worried about getting sued are the people/corporations who reach thousands or millions of viewers.
Anyway, each hair care product may work for some people and not others. There is no one product that is best for everyone. I think a lot of finding what is best for you is to experiment with different types of hair care methods and products.
Good luck and keep the hair growing.
Dear Sirs,
Well, I think Head & Shoulders is o.k, but don't use too much. In Australia we get a thing called PERT, another Proctor & Gamble offering. Using it is no gamble, in fact it is very good, a combined shampoo and conditioner product, which the purists like stuck-up hairdressers tend not to favor, because one buys it in supermarkets and not their costlier premises.
We get nice ads on tv here for Head & Shoulders with this handsome jap dude whose black hair does not havwe a trace of a flake after using the said product.
I have recently bought Redken, the 'express' shampoo- grey bottle. It's good, but over-priced. Good AVON is just as friendly to my hair. I once bought CLINIQUE for oily hair and I found it not dissimilar to Palmolive dishwashing liquid, which claims to be 'soft on hands.' It's all marketing which = your $ in their pockets.
Cheers to all you long-haired guys out there!
Andrew from Australia.
I have about 12+ inches of straight hair and I use Head and Shoulders 2&1 Hydrating Shampoo and followup with Pantene Conditioner (Otherwise it dries out my hair rather badly).
If I don't use Head and Shoulders I get a lot of dandruff, and I'm just tired of it getting on my clothes.
I guess it works well for some and not for others. I'm sure you'll find something more suitable to your needs.
I allready have, Suave ;)
Okay if you disagree, but it is not good at all for my hair.
Try Nizoral instead. There is a non-prescription strength version available over the counter. It's a little pricey, about $10 for a small bottle, but a little goes a long way and it worked very well on my flaky scalp.
Dwayne, buddy, looking at the huge number of postings you've got here on the hyperboard the past many days, I'm wondering if you have a life or if the hyperboard is your life. I'm not meaning to be offensive, Dwayne, really I'm not. I think that if you scroll down through the whole hyperboard, about nine tenths of the questions you ask or comments you make are already on the hyperboard, and some of them are on there many times. I'm like you and enjoy this hyperboard, but I don't know if it's always necessary to make comments to every entry. What do you think?
I only ask questions I don't know, and I help people who need to be helped. If their is something wrong with that just don't talk to me. Hyperboard is not my life, and I have my own life, but I live in the crappiest neighborhood with nothing to do in it. These people on the Hyperboard relate to me more then my own family, and I love helping or talking to them.
Sounds like you have contact dermatitis rather than fungal related dandruff in which case pyrithione zinc the active ingred in h&s will have little effect. Also h&s is a bad poo' for buildup which could be irritating your scalp further if you have contact dermatitis. Perhaps stick with suave and try a final rinse with apple cider vinigar/water which is antifungal but also a fruit acid which will not only strengthen the protiens in your hair but also help to break up the dead skin cells on your scalp surface.
Years ago I tried Head and Shoulders and Suave, and Suave was better. I also tried shampoos for oil hair and it may have made my hair more oily. I didn't have any of the problems with Suave for normal hair. I tried Pert (not sure of correct spelling) and it made my hair itch, if I remember right. Years ago I stopped believing ads seen on TV. I often learn about shampoo when someone lets me use "their" shampoo.
