Great news!:)
My mam thinks it's very cool that I'm growing my hair, she probably knows how ugly I looked with short hair lol.
My Dad Is slightly 'shake head' attitude towards me growing my hair long. But he's still pretty OK with it. I think he may be jelous because he has think curly hair and probably couldn't grow it long because it grew so slowly.
My sister thinks it's great I'm growing my hair too, so quite positive reactions really. By the way I'm 17 year old teenager.
My parents are very supportive about my decision on growing my hair long. My mom seems more involved with my hair than my dad does. Well, when your aunt runs a hair salon and a close friend of your mom also runs a salon, you'll expect them to catch on to something. I believe that I've influenced my uncle to start growing out his hair too, but it could just go up to medium length, because my grandmother thinks longhair looks better on me than it would on him. Oh well.
Tonez:D
My Dad likes it, he used to have hair down to his waist when he was in his 20's. My mom I don't think cares either way.
hello, my parents think that my hair is pretty in long lenght, but they prefer if I cut it, but they respect me in this way,my mother a bit more than my father, because he sometimes makes jokes with it, saying for example that i´m like a gitano(spanish race)or flamenco singer... but they like my hair.my mom in her 20´s had a waist wavy thick hair.
My mom and dad are cool about it. My mom loves my hair, while my dad is nonchalant about it.
Both of my parents are at least fairly supportive of my hair. At first, I think they were a little hesitant, but now they accept it. The only problem I really have is that my mom makes it a regular practice to tell me my hair's too greasy. Now, granted, my hair does tend to produce a lot of oil, but she sometimes even says that when it hasn't even been a day after I last washed it. She seems to be obsessed with the idea that the only good hair is hair that doesn't have any oils in it at all, but of course, when my hair's like that, it's really really frizzy.
Other than that, though, they're supportive.
I'm 18 and my parents have been a bit resistant the whole time. I've been growing my hair for nine months now and they've been bugging me about it the whole time. Even now - they keep pulling out pictures from when I had really short hair and say that I looked a lot older, when in fact people always comment me for looking older with long hair. My parents will always love me, but they just won't let go of the hair thing. Too bad for them I'm not changing my mind! :)
Guess I was one of the "lucky." My Mother and Father are now deceased, but when living with them they NEVER had a problem with ANYTHING I desired to do in expressing myself. (Longer hair, Earings,Tats didn't phase them in the least.) But, as am I, they were both Artists and thought for themselves, never trying to impress or immitate Society. I might add, the both of them were both kind and extremely bright.
Aren't artists great, they really think outside the box. Absalom
Right you are! I think it takes another Artist to really understand. The "normal" of Society having no conception of how our brains work.
Justin~
Dad thought it was great idea. My mom has warmed up to the idea, she's the one who goes with me into get the "stuff".
That is a good choice, just let it grow. By the way Ben, you can have butt length hair (if you don't cut it) by the time you are 19. You can reach that length in 4 years easily, outdiong your dad by a whole year. LOL Absalom
My mom loves it and is very jealous of my hair. My dad, who I rarely speak to, is, for the most part, indifferent, but he would, in his perfect world, have a short-haired son.
My whole family is pretty much neutral except my mom and grandmother who hate it, and bring up the subject whenever possible. I guess for some reason they think that after over 2 years of not cutting my hair that I will suddenly change my decision, but they couldn't be farther from the truth. In fact the longer my hair gets the more I want it to be even longer.
I'm 19 and have long hair, my dad also makes fun of my hair but i'm not going to cut it. My advice is to stand your ground and continue to grow your even if your parents don't like it.
My Dad is fully in support of it, and I think it may be because he seems determined that I don't turn out to be a conservative, and this proves I wont. I don't know what makes him think I might though...
My Mum doesn't really seem too bothered, at first she kept telling me to do something with it, but now she doesn't even mention my hair.
Well its been 6 years since I was a teenager and I only begun growing my hair out 17 months ago so I can't reply from a teens perspective, but what the hell...
My Mum like's my hair, she prefers it when I tie it back though.
My Dad gave me some stick early on, the first time I wore my hair in a half-tail he called it a "rat". But it was only gentle prodding, he wasn't out to offend me. More recently he's actually seemed interested by it, we were out for a meal back in March and he asked me quite seriously how I was "enjoying life with long hair?"
Like Ben's Dad my old man is a former long hair, infact if you look at photos of my Mom and Dad from behind in the seventies you couldn't tell them apart. (Except for the 3 inch height difference.) They both wore flared trousers and outlandish suits and they both had hair just past their shoulders. Weird...
Sorted
Hi sorted this is well weired but my mum thinks the exact same about me she keeps saying my hair will look alot better when i can get all in a full proper pony talil and not all floping round mt face !!!
Spooky hha ha ha
as you probabaly remember from my previous posts my famiy hates it to the point that they would attack me and try to rip it out (which they have)
same thing happens with the food issue, i'm a vegetarian and they have literally tried to shove beef and other meat into my mouth. (as a child they would do this 3 meals a day untill i ate it) sorry for going off topic there...
when i was really young my step-parents used to grab me and give me forced buzzcuts. to them anthing more then an inch was "long" while on the other hand i feel that anything less then mid-back is "short" lol
i think it's just a controll issue
it's amazing how oposit people can be from their parents
they tend to attack anyody elses beliefs if there a little diffrent then theirs and totally hate them for it. i'm the polar oposit of them on ALL matters ,
there hatefull racists, i'm a pacafist.
there conservatives, i'm liberal.
there pagan, i'm christian.
they come from a military family, i don't believe in war etc. just goes on and on and needless to say they hate me for all that and try to make my life hell
sorry for the rant.
