Ok ladies, if you know who he is. Did anyone else find Jerry lee Lewis in his prime to be incredibly sexy when he performed especially when his hair fell in his face. Respond and let me know if I'm the only one who thinks that.
Sorry, I'm not a lady. But I did find Jerry Lee's hair fascinating and a turn on, especially when it fell in his face. I have tried to collect as much video of him in the 50s as I can find. That unique combination of his hair with the way he performed his music was very appealing. I'm sure there are a lot of men who would agree with you, Suzanne, straight or gay.
i agree. his hair is a real turnon. the movie of his life, 'great balls of fire' with i think patrick swayze is almost as good as the real thing.
where do you get your videos?
tom
Actaully, Dennis Quaid played the lead role in 'Great Balls of Fire'.

Gabriel? Since you have numerous videos about Jerry Lee, which is the sexiest? For me, it's one where he is performing in England and about fifteen minutes into the show(I think) the hair comes flying into his face. He then gets up on the piano and continues to sing while shaking his mane back and forth. At this point you can see the audience trying to grab for his hair. He then bends over and starts combing it with his hand and flings it out of his face. Prrrrrrrrrr! Just thinking about that...........Write back-Suzanne
Hi Suzanne and all.
Suzanne, why did you sign my name on your last post? That is very confusing. As for Jerry Lee's "sexiest scene", I would have to agree with you about the particular scene you refer to. In Jerry Lee's biography "Hellfire" by Nick Tosches, Jerry Lee is clearly aware of the power of his hair and he grew it that way on purpose, considering his own to be the longest and finest hair he could, but ultimately cut it a more conservatively after he decided that "Beatle haircuts" made a mockery of long hair, and perhaps for biblical reasons.
I tried to dig through my videos and found two about Jerry Lee (other than the Dennis Quaid film). One is "Jerry Lee Lewis: I Am What I Am" (c1989 J2 Communications, J2-0046; ISBN 1-55875-046-0) and the other is "Shindig! presents Jerry Lee Lewis" (c1992 Rhino Home Video RNVD 1458; ISBN 1-56605-010-3). They both show scenes of The Killer: the first one is mostly a documentary with a few scenes, the second is actual performances from the 1960s series. I think I have more video but don't see it around. I imagine that more footage, especially from the 50s, might be found in various American Bandstand videos, etc. I don't know if any of these videos are in print anymore. I probably also have random scenes taped on a myriad of videos (possibly not well-labeled).
I have some comments about "Great Balls of Fire", the film starring Dennis Quaid. I really enjoyed the film, and thought he did great in the role. I was disappointed that Dennis was not allowed to do his own singing. They dubbed in Jerry Lee's actual voice. At the end of the film, I think in the closing credits, they sing a duet together. It just would have been nice to give more credit to Quaid's singing, which is good. Quaid also looked good in the role, bleaching his hair for the part. Too bad the front was not longer. It was in his eyes, but not really as long as The Killer's was. We're lucky his hair was as long as it was though; the movie Quaid did immediately previous to "Great Balls" was "Everybody's All-American", in which he sported some sort of brushcut (ARRRGGGGHHH!!!). He definitely looks better in longer hair. If only some other movie had preceded "Great Balls", we might have really seen Dennis look just like Jerry Lee!
Anyway, Suzanne, you've given me a great excuse to watch these videos once again. Hope you are able to find them some time.

Jerry Lee (other than the Dennis Quaid film). One is "Jerry Lee Lewis: I Am What I Am" (c1989 J2 Communications, J2-0046; ISBN 1-55875-046-0) and the other is "Shindig! presents Jerry Lee Lewis" (c1992 Rhino Home Video RNVD 1458; ISBN 1-56605-010-3).
both of these videos are available on amazon.
do either of them have the scenes you mentioned?
tom
Tom,
I took another look at these videos. The Shindig! video has a couple okay scenes of Lewis flinging his hair around, but for the most part those shots are distant and he is relatively calm on that show.
The bio video does show some scenes of him with his longer floppier hair. There is one great scene where there is a closeup of him singing through a thick mop of flopping hair. I don't think the exact scene cited before is on this video, but this one is interesting, and also has some great interviews with Lewis' contemporaries and some more current people. I'd recommend the second one if it's for the hair, the first one if you just like Jerry Lee.
