Hi guys, another question that maybe some of you will be able to shed light on, since it must come up sometimes, I think.
I shower in the morning, and it's nice to be able to work out before then, but sometimes I work out later in the day. In the latter case, after taking my second shower that I need, what should my conditioner routine be? I usually use shampoo once every few days, so that's no big deal, but with conditioner, should I be using it after both showers, or is there such a thing as too much conditioner?
In my opinion I think it is good to use conditioner after every shampoo so the hair isn't dry and brittle. I might be wrong because my hair is bleached, so without my shampoo my hair is like that. Just as long as the conditioner isn't in excessive amounts and I always make sure the residue is completely rinsed out. Hope I helped any! ~Peace!~ Blonde
Too much conditioner can leave your hair too shiny! Almost greasy looking, at least that's what I've experienced!
You are going to have to experiment with it. I workout regularly, too, and no matter how many times I shower in one day, this is what I do--because it works for my hair. I only shampoo three times a week. And I NEVER use conditioner. I know that will seem like blasphemy to many here, but quite honestly, my hair is in very good shape. It's thick, fairly straight, mid-back length, no split ends, not dry, etc. On the non-shampoo days, I simply rinse with water which probably helps redistribute natural oils, and rinses out dust and dirt.
But, you have to experiment and see what works for you.
BTW, I use Aussie shampoo and tribute that product alone for not needing much else for my hair. No build up, gentle scent, very good for the hair.

If I had to get my hair wet under a hot or warm shower I would condition it to replace the oil. Having said that, I work out every day but I only wash my hair every few days. When I don't wash my hair I wear a shower cap. I think wetting and drying the hair twice a day is too much, no matter what else you do to it (shampoo, condition, etc). Sweat from your head doesn't develop a strong odor like sweat from other parts of the body. If you work out in a public gym I suggest you wear a bandana or cap to keep your hair from touching the equipment (for both hygiene and safety).
What is your routine now? Do you condition after both? What is your hair/skin type?
I would just rinse the first time, or as gollan said use a shower cap, and use conditioner the second shower. Or, if your hair is as oily as mine, just rinse both times. Or use a shower cap the first time, rinse after the work out. It really depends on what your hair type is, and what works best for you/your hair personally.
