For once I would like to see someone
go on these makeover shows
and insist that thye like having their
hair long, that they like what they are
wearing. And if someone doesn't like then
they can lump it.
Yeah, it really bugs me when they act like long hair is ugly in some way, and the bloody makeover wouldn't be complete somehow without the chop. They act like it's some sort of miracle, when the person's makeover would have looked just as nice if they had kept their own hair and clothes.
Actually, in all honesty, I don't like makeover shows at all. They pressure people into self-images that are unrealistic, expensive, and in my opinion, demeaning.
I would like to know why you viewers keep watching stuff you say you don't like?
The media companies look at viewer BEHAVIOR, not whethor or not viewers say they like the shows. The customers are the advertisors, not the viewers. TV appears to still be the 800 pound guerilla in advertising to the general population.
I don't watch them, but I see enough of the commercials and reviews(sadly enough)to know what's going on. I also believe that all reality tv shows are burning the brain cells of human kind, as well as adding to the general lowering of moral values. It's disgusting(and a lot of fun to mock).
Hello Nick,
The people on makeover shows agree to be there and likely have to be up for any change the show wants to make. If anyone did successfully insist on their hair remaining as-is against the wishes of the styling crew then you can bet it would not be likely to air. However, there are some shows that have listened to the guy and respected his hair desires. I am still waiting to hear about a show where short haired guys get to try extensions for a new look. Surely there is an audience for that type of makeover.
